Fx wildcat Weaver/Picatinny rail set

To be honest I'm surprised FX haven't offered this as a standard due to the picatinny ability to retain zero or very very close to zero when mounts removed & replaced.

Unit Manufacturing Cost .... much more machining time (thus increased cost) required to mill out the PRail vs cutting two small dove tails. I guessing that FX, made that decision in the interest of a lower UMC ... thereby allowing FX to offer the WC at a lower cost to end user. Additional benefit might also be reduced weight ... IMHO
For the record, give a choice, I would opt for the PRail vs dovetail ever time.

Aaauuuhhh, we touched on a important subject. All my other air guns have it. And there in the same cost range as fx. Matter of fact, the more I think of this there behind the curve on this subject. To be honest, if fx could find a way to get the sp barrel to NOT BE PELLET fussy , and get to the Prail. They would be no doubt the best air gun maker in the world. Because they have everything else. That's for sure. Sorry guys got a little side tracked. I have an Edgun, Vulcan, and my wonderfull Cricket. All have the Prail and it makes for a very easy on /off when switching back an for between scopes. Another reason I believe they don't want to come around with there Prail is the NO LIMIT MOUNTS made for there airguns. They are set up to buy all there accessaries from them. But at there asking price, which I believe is to high , it just don't make sence. Anyway this is turning into a rant, sorry guys. That's my take....Steve

an wellmade dovetail2picatinny rail with built in 10 , 20 or 30 moa would be superbly well selling in the market today i would think 
then adding on a set of very low qd rings and you would be sett.
the Hammerli cr20 and ar20 "target" rifles comes with the rail as standard and it is superb on those rifles as they are 12 ftp max wepons ,,,

Recently received an answer to picatinny rail availability from fx on their facebook site. Fx says "The picatinny rail is now in stock, no photos of it yet but some are already on the way to ASI - UK and AoA US."

I had cant problems with a non FX adaptor from dovetail to picatinny. So I emailed the UK distributor of FX, who contacted FX Sweden. Long story short the FX Wildcat picatinny rail will cost £69.95 in UK and is expected in October 2015, I have ordered one

Rapid Air Weapons has just switched their hm1000x line over to Picatinny scope rail with built in 22 MoA slope. Not sure if they are doing it with the rest of their line. Looking forward to having those features on mine soon. I wish more air guns would switch. Nice to have more scope mount options.

What is the reason for such a demand for weaver/picatinny bases on pcp rifles? I am simply asking out of curiousity as I have never had any issue with dovetails on a pcp and see little to no advantage.

Personally I like having the interchangeability with firearm hardware. Just nice to have a standard scope/accessory mount system. With picatinny you can take a scope rings and all off say your ar15 and drop it on your Wildcat and just re zero without removing the rings from the scope. Its just a more modern and versitile system. Plus I think it looks cool and that's worth a lot to me.
Additionally if used on springers it would eliminate scope ring creep once and for all.

I kinda figured that people liked them because they can swap scopes easier and such. I am just used to weaver on centerfire and dovetails on rimfires and airguns. I don't swap scopes and never had any issues with dovetail mounts, so I wondered what the reasoning was for such a push to weaver. Weaver tending to be a more bulky base and ring setup and tending to weigh more just never made sense to me on a pcp air rifle with little to no recoil. I agree with switching to weaver/pic for springers, but that is about it.

Thanks CORKY!! I don't use night vision, so I never thought about almost all alternative sighting systems have weaver/pic mounts and not dovetail.

Could not stand scope mount for this rifle. I was first group to get one probably first person to get rid of it.

I think dovetail/picatinny rail also is a bit of an cultural differences between USA and Europe.
Most of the airgun manufacturers in Europes default option is dovetail. I have actually heard that some swedes said that they would not buy Bobcat or Wildcat guns because they have a "tactical" look with it's black composite stock, pistol grip, rail and so on.
In my opinion, use what works for you and what you enjoy
That said I will switch out the dovetail on my Waildcat, and it will be the first time I will be using picatinny for a scope mount.
About the pellet fussiness, I can not agree. My Wildcat gladly eats JSB Jumbo and Jumbo Heavy, as well as FX on in 5,52 mm and Preditor Pollymag Short as well. I have Steyr Hunting in .177 that only works well with AirArms Field 4,51 and nothing else.
on the other hand I hade a CZ 200T in .177 that ate almost anything.
For me the FX ST barrel works fine, and since the JSB brand is a common brand in Sweden I have no problems getting the best out of gun.

On October 6th I had an Email from ASI, the UK distributor for all things FX . The Wildcat picatinny rail is with them, and one will be posted out to me on 8th October. Thank you ASI for your very personal attention.
