FX Wildcat or Impact in .25 Cal

I think you leave out one important factor: how much do you wish to "tinker" with your airgun?

I had a FX Wildcat in .22 and it was a great shooter. Dead simple, not much to adjust as the performance was already great. From people that I know with the FX Impact...they do considerably more fiddling with their rifles.

I would think filling the Impact with a hand pump would be hellacious. Plus, it is a grand more than the wildcat.

If you like the simplicity of the Streamline where you are spending more time shooting that adjusting, then the Wildcat may be the best choice for you.

My $.02. Good luck!

The larger the caliber the more air that is required per shot. Pumping either gun is doable but you should invest in a 75 cu ft scba. If I were hand pumping I wouldn’t be shooting nor enjoying this sport nearly as much.

That aside a wildcat is cheaper and great reliability and accuracy reviews . Also the impact seems to have more issues posted about it than any other high end gun.

Id go with the 25 wildcat and a tank.

Yup, maybe the WC .25 and a nice CF tank? I've been hand pumping for quite a while and have always been happy to but lately I find myself wishing I had a tank. I don't think the Impact would be a gun I would want to hand pump especially in .25 cal. Maybe .177 would be alright since the shot count is so high I could pump it up on the weekend and shoot all week lol.

Both are great rifles!
sgergen is right, it comes down to how much you wish to tune. Filling either one off a hand pump will be a chore as well as a motivator to get off the hand pump. But, the Impact allows you to shoot more times between fills. If you use all those shots, refilling will be that much more painful. If you shoot, lets say, ~40 shots and then refill, it will basically be the same (unless you decide to fill the Impact to its max 250b pressure).
I have owned both. I liked them both for different reasons.
Wildcat pro's... Simple, "pick up and shoot" rifle, easy to load, comfortable, well balanced, with good weight.
Impact pro's... A tuners delight! Ability to change calibers and basically have a whole new rifle. Massive magazines available. Great shot count.
Of course, they share some other pro's such as accuracy. But, those are some of the basics.
Good luck with your choice!

I recommend a used SCBA tank, as long as you have a dive or paintball shop to get it filled to 4500 psi.. You can get a good used one plus the fill rig for approx. $180 total. The one I linked to below is good for about 5 more years, and is already hydro'd recently so you don't need to do that. Its good to go. The fill rig is good quality and comes with a micro bore hose.

I went with the .25 Wildcat due to its simplicity and reputation plus I just want to shoot, I don’t need to tinker around with this adjustment then that adjustment then to the other adjustment only to find it was shooting better at that other adjustment with a bit more on the other adjustment wheel and then have to readjust to use that other pellet.......I just want a nice light Airgun that shoots the 25.4 JSB pellet with accuracy and has good KE for hunting and accurate enough to hit metal at 100 yards plus, being able to shoot 33.95s is a bonus....

I had the same questions 5 months ago. I really like the accuracy and the look of Fx Impact but it isn’t for me. I also don’t like changing cals. Finally, I pulled trigger on Wildcat .25 & Omega Tank (75 cu ft). After 5 months happy with Fx Wildcat .25, I just got a Kalibrgun Cricket .22 last week. I happy to spend more money to buy and enjoy 2 different guns instead of getting one gun with multi cals.

I have an airwolf , impact and a cricket. I'm using a hand pump to fill them. I like it because it keeps me in shape a little bit, but now I don't have to much time to be pumping. I'm waiting for Black Friday to place an order for my compressor and a 75cf omega tank. I love my impact, I have the .22 and .25 barrel but I'm using the .25 all the time. it has been tuned by Ernest Rowe to shoot the mk2. when I got the impact I didn't know anything and it was a pain in the ass dealing with all the settings but now I know my gun very well. if you get the impact, pick one caliber and tuned it to shoot the best..

I have an impact and just love it. It shoots like a laser beam and do find needs for different calibers. There is alot of accessories for it too.
