FX Wildcat Mod/LDC/Silencer Hack for Pennies.....

Hi Everyone, so I had the most amazing idea over the weekend and then I created the thought that was in my head and here is the result. let me know what you think.

The FX Wildcat .25 come standard with two baffles. My though was this, why don't I slow the air down inside those two baffles. rather then spending well over $150 for a mod/ldc/silencer.

Here are the result.
-3x 2.8 silicone cover cut down to sizes/ find them at any home depot or hardware store or someone might have them already and ask for the cap/cover. I had two laying around the house, I bought one and return the item but kept the cover.
-1 soft sponge/foam sheets that comes with your pellet tins.

after everything is said and done, I was able to reduce the sound to about 6-8 DB lower then without the mods! here are some pictures.

step I took.

1. cut the caps but leaving the cover in tack,
2. drill holes in the spacing.
3. sand and filled to smooth
4. cut foam to sizes
5. place two caps in the 1st baffles 9each cap is filled with the foam to cover the holes.
6. place the last cap in the second baffles, and fill it with foam,
7. screw back the two baffles and your done.
8. take apart if need for cleaning.

total cost was .01 cent.

The whole point is to try and reduce the sound without spending a lot of money, I am aware of made mod/ldc/silencer but they all cost easily $150. I was able to reduce my noises LV down 6-8 DB, without spending any money.... still keeping the length of the barrel. no change in POI.

While I don't have a Huggett or a SUMO to compare but I would to get some numbers from anyone that have one, for comparison. Please be sure to give me exact location so I can produce the test and get similar reading for good comparison.

from what I have been reading most mod/LDC/Silencer will reduce the report up to 10 db less then without it. if i'm coming in with 6-8db less for pennies. Then it's a win -win.

"Centercut"Very cool, good idea. Do you have a SUMO you can compare this to, as far as sound reduction?

Centercut,

Sup buddy. It's very hard to come close to a Sumo, a Ronin, hell, anything that Donny makes. Solid LDC's. I have been fortunate enough to try out most of the LDC's out there and I run DonnyFL's LDC on all my toys. Not bashing Khanhvngo's innovation. Props for that Khanhvngo!

I have been hunting with it for about 3 days now and I've found that it barely make that much noise after I pull the trigger, in the woods. when I was in my basement and I did a level check, it went from 103 without any mods, down to about 91 after the mod. But that was int he basement. When I was outside, it was down to 72 db without any echo. I say it has quiet the wildcat down a lot, not professional made a lot but for DIY level, is good for me.

Just a reminder, that if you are going to try and make this Mod, remember the inside tube need to be cut down further then the outside tube, to allow the .25 pellet to past through cleanly. please ask question or look at the pictures carefully. Before attempting yo recreate this mod. That being said, I have had no issue with mine so far and I have send about 100 rounds through it. took it apart and reassemble without any issue.
