FX wildcat MKII .25 hammer adjustment?

I just finished tuning a Wildcat MKII Warcat for a member recently, and just like Bob I had to heat it up with my micro torch until it glowed to get it to even budge. I threw it away and installed two new Hammer Spring Nuts in the Warcat... one to adjust the spring and a second one as a jam nut. FXUSA does sell a brass jam nut to be used behind the HSN but I had weird results with it when tuning a friends Streamline, because every time we tightened the brass jam nut the velocity readings over the chronograph changed. So I prefer to just use a second HSN or better yet a drop of Blue Loctite to secure the HSN. If you use any jam nut make a note of your pellets' velocity before and after you install it, to make sure that the velocity has not changed higher or lower because of it.

DarkRattle, I tune guns to the owners wishes. Sometimes people want max power and sometimes they just want max shot count. An example of max power would be my own Wildcat which is tuned to shoot the JSB 33.95 Heavy at 915 ft/s for a whopping 63 ft lbs of muzzle energy. I have more energy left over at 100 yards than most .22 pcp's have at the muzzle. Conversely, I just tuned a Warcat for a guy that only wanted 47 fpe but lots of shots. I would set your gun up to at least 865 ft/s which would be 56.5 fpe, or ideally I would prefer to set it up for you at 885 ft/s which is 59 fpe. 820 ft/s is just way too low for you to get the best accuracy and performance out of these pellets. For you to get 51 fpe is too easy...its only about 820 ft/s.

DarkRattle,

The 34 grain Heavy MKII shoot right at 100 ft/s slower than the 25.4 grain Kings do. So if Kings are shooting at 910 ft/s then the MKII will be shooting at approx. 810 ft/s. Now you may get an extra 10 ft/s by simply adjusting your hammer spring nut...but each gun is different. Try it and see what happens... but a 10 ft/s increase in velocity is not going to do all that much for you one way or the other.
