FX FX Wildcat MK3 transfer port

Hello all.

I've just got a second-hand wildcat MK3 for a great price but the power I'm able to get is on the low side. While disassembling it to mantain and look for any obvious problem I noticed the tansfer port is really tiny. Is this normal for this model? Could it be the reason?

could it be a 12ftlb version?

After looking at the pic @coastal drifter posted your port looks too small. I had this same experience from fx with a Maverick compact in 25. Tuned with 25.39 pellets at 900 fps on slug port I one day decided to flip it over to the pellet one. 750 fps on same tune. Didn’t seem right so I tried on my 25 m3. Forget the exact number but the pellet port dropped FPS way less than 150 fps. Upon inspection the pellet port on the Maverick was definitely smaller than the one on the impact. I would call Utah and see if the huma air transfer port will fit your wildcat version. If so get that.

Hhmm... Thanks for all the replies. This was an online auction so I guess I might have bought a sub12 or sub18 version, dont really know where FX does the restriction since the reg is at an healthy 125bar.

I actually have a dreamline that has a transfer port similar to what @coastal drifter posted (if I remeber correctly). Maybe I'll just disassembly that and try it out to see the results.

Edit: I'm in europe, so the chances that this is a restricted version are higher then in the USA.

I use the slug por on my wildcat, shoots 18gr. @885 extremely accurate. reg set at 100 bar. hammer wheel #7

Thanks for the info.

I actually have another question that you may know how to answer.
I have other PCPs (a GK1, an Uragan2 and a dreamline) but I'm new to this platform, and this was an impulse buy (lol) so I didnt really had tome to read an learn the gun.

Anyway, the hammer wheel rotates freely for how many rotations I want in either direction. How do I know what power level I am (there is no line or arrow) and is this normal behaviour?
Maybe I've got a lemon...

I have an older transfer-port I got used that has a tiny hole like that, but also has the "normal" FAC port on the other side. FX also made a single FAC hole version for years before the started making the dual ports most of us know today. In my experience a transfer-port upgrade can be a nice boost in fps, but if you have a sub12 version of the Wildcat Im sure there are other things that will be bottle necks.

the # on the power wheel is at the bottom six oclock position. also if ou want to up hammer spring strike the hole in the wheel can access a allen screw in the six oclock position.

Yeah that port is too small. I've got a WC mk3 and the port is twice that size. I also have a Crown and a bunch of barrels, none have a pellet port that small.

If you look at the power wheel, you'll see a small hole between 1 & 7. You turn that hole down to 6 o'clock position and an Allen wrench goes thru that hole to adjust the hammer tension range.

back in the day, we used to drill out our transfer ports to get a little more power. We would make them oblong so the pellet wouldn't fall through
