FX wildcat mk3 bt vs taipan veteran 2 compact

I have the Wildcat bt, I bought the VP version and put a carbon bottle on it. I also own the original veteran shorty. The wildcat had creeping issues and had to be shipped back. It’s fixed now and shoots good but has poi issues. The veteran has never given me a problem at all. I don’t have any experience with the vet II but I’m confident it follows it’s predecessors in build quality. If I were you I’d get the taipan, the only drawback is the weight. You’ve probably heard it said that they are built line a tank, not so much for the FX.

I have a FX Wildcat Mk3 BT Compact in 0.22 calibre, and a Taipan Veteran (original / 1) in 0.177 calibre. Wildcat is more powerful. Mine is tuned to shoot slugs. The Veteran is tuned to shoot Hades pellets. They are equally accurate. The Wildcat is more adjustable and more finicky. The Veteran just plain works. Never goes out of tune, never changes point of impact. Even if it sits loaded overnight the first shot is on "zero".

Have Wildcat MK3 Sniper .30 (tube style) and two original Taipan Veterans (Long .25, Standard .22.) All three are accurate, but, like gfmiller, Taipan Veterans just plain work, no POI changes nor lost tunes. Instill complete confidence, never worry about accuracy even if bumped into a tree branch. Always use extra care with FX, not sure same bump wouldn't affect. WM

Does anyone has experience with the both the FX wildcat mk3 bt compact and taipan veteran 2 compact? What rifle do you prefer and why?
Have / had both. The vet 2 is not a compact. It is the length of the original vet long. The vet2 is a real solid gun. But has weight. The wildcat 3 is also a proven model. More Mobil and easier off hand shooting. All around use and versatility, I’d favor the wildcat 3.

I bet the Vet 2 is a solid, accurate airgun. But I went with the V1 Standard instead. It weighs a pound less than the V2 and has anti double load . I do have a FX Maverick also, both in .22 cal . The Vet 1 is pushing around 32-36 fpe . As far as build the quality the Vet is over built with its huge frame bolts and action joints and locked down solid barrel. 💪 And the V1 Standard, is a compact in size in comparison w the FX compact , comes in at 7.5 lbs and the trigger will make you a true trigger snob . I only do hammer spring adjustment and the reg is untouched. It's my set it and forget it pcp. The Maverick is my higher power pellet shooter at 47 fpe w 25.4 pellets and weighs under 7 lbs . I've changed the tune way too many times and screwed up some real good tunes to chase a accurate slug tunes with a standard liner . It is adjustable if that's what you're after and a heavier hammer weight from fx for free , thanks FX , really wakes it up . Accuracy is about a toss up and the Mav is easy to work on if you like changing things . I enjoy both but the simplicity and smooth shot cycle of the Vet plus its solid quality build makes it my favorite.

Wanted to add I won't be getting rid of my Maverick anytime soon. It's a very versatile airgun and w the huge plenum it shoots heavy pellets or slugs with ease.

I have a Mk3 BT Sniper. Three years in and no problems with it but as others stated they do have issues. Minor POI shift, first couple shots slow after sitting a while, have to be careful about bumping the barrel. If you're going to use it in scenarios where you can take a minute to dry fire a few times and check zero it's a really good air rifle with tons of upgrades and modularity.
I bought it for farm and garden pest control where I need to be able to grab it at a moment's notice and work. Needless to say, for that it has replaced by another brand. For target shooting with the wife it's perfect and still see's good use to that effect.
