FX Wildcat MK3 .25 - 500 mm barrel and slugs

I am trying to tune this gun for 26.54 grain Hades and 26 grain Hybrid slugs. In the end I would like to have 2 settings on the power wheel so I could just turn it for what ever ammo I was using at the time without messing with the regulator or fine tuning the hammer:

So this is my set up:

FX MK3 500mm barrel, 2.5" power plenum, Huma high flow dual transfer port, Smooth twist X barrel liner.

With the stock set up regulator at 150 I was shooting the Hades at - Low 891, High 898, Ave 894, Spread, 7 STD Dev 1.9 - They were hole in hole at 50 yards.

I think with the Hybrid slugs I need to be at 950 to 970 fps according to what I have read. First is this type of tune even possible. Second if it is where should I start on the tune? I was thinking set the regulator at 120 or 130 and try to get the 890/898 for the hybrids at a low position on the power wheel, then adjust it up on the power wheel to try and get the 950/970. Any help would be appreciated.

That sounds like the numbers with the Hades is a pretty good tune. For the hybrids, trying to push them that fast with the 500mm barrel is going to be tough. I have the 700mm on mine and before any modifications I was only able to push the hybrids to 955fps. I have the same modifications on my WC as you do. If the Hades are grouping that well at 50 yards, they will probably have more energy transfer on target than the hybrids do. I was shooting the hybrids at 1008fps and I took it out to shoot prarie dogs and they were not expanding, they would go right though them like a standard pellet. I have a few videos on my YouTube channel using the hybrids with the Wildcat that might have some info https://youtu.be/DKc57sjrZfQ . I also started a ballistic test series where I’m testing out al the hunting pellets and slugs in all calibers at low and high speeds to show what expands in gel and what doesn’t. I am starting with .22 and working up to .30

I had a lot of success with the .25 Hades in that 891/898 FPS range. (killed close to 200 greys this year). Would it make sense to keep the regulator pressure as low as possible and try to hit those FPS numbers with the intent of increasing the shot count? And just forget about the slugs... This gun is straight up a grey squirrel gun. It would be nice to see if the slugs would shoot, if i could get to the higher FPS...

The Hades are a great option for small game, and they are very easy to tune for on the Wildcat. Your thoughts on going for those numbers with the lowest reg pressure is spot on 👍🏻 That’s gonna give you the power to put down squirrels out to 100 yards as long as you do your part. The only slugs I’ve tested that expand at low speeds are the Varmint Knockers, but at the speed you would be able to push those you will probably still have better energy transfer and a much flatter trajectory with the Hades. Another great option for pellets is the Predator Polymags, they expand great and mushroom like a slug does.
