FX Wildcat MK2 Question

I took my shroud off to install a Carbon Fiber Sleeve on my barrel. I noticed there was something loose rattling inside the shroud. I looked inside and it looks like a round nut or washer. The shroud went back on fine and everything seems fine and tight. Just wondering if this is normal or not.

I don’t know of any washers in the shroud. Was it the barrel nut?

Are you the original owner of the gun? So what did you do after you saw whatever was loose? If you removed it post a pic of what it is, plz

My mk3 has a small brass washer that goes on the liner lock between the barrel sleeve and the shroud. I’ve been able to fish it out of the shroud and put it back on the liner lock when I put the shroud back on.

Yes I am the original owner. And no the object which looks like a washer is to large to come out either end. The id of the washer type object looks just big enough to fit over the barrel sleeve.

You can use a two prong spanner to remove the rear end cap. Might need some heat applied to the cap first as it’s lock tighted from the factory. Then the piece inside will come out.

download the parts diagram from fx’s website to see what that part is. If it’s not under the wildcat MK2 schematics it’ll be in the barrel drawings, which is a separate set of drawings, just like the carbon fiber bottles are

I called Utah Airguns today . I talked to Thadias. He told me this was a bushing and it was totally normal for it to be loose in the shroud. He advised to put the shroud on with the rifle in a vertical position and make sure the bushing gets guided over the barrel sleeve.

I have spoken often with Utah and Thadias and also Travis usually. Very helpful guys and knowledgeable. I just want to through this out there. Have had multiple Wildcat MK2 in all calibers come through my home to another happy owner and never once did I have a loose bushing rattling around in the shroud. Not to say Thadias is incorrect on it being "normal", just information only.

Yes I did know Thadias was not being honest with me on the phone. I also have had my shroud off a few times and not once heard any object rattling around inside the shroud. It is what is is but not good for business.

If I do remove the end of the shroud with a spanner wrench what should I expect to see inside (i.e) will parts start falling out leaving me with a mess? Also does anyone know where this bushing goes and how to secure it in place?
