My Wildcat is loosing fps, it went from 870ish down to the 820s. I checked the hammer tension adjustment and it is very loose. I have run it over a Chrony and the best I can get now with STX liner and JSB 25.39s is 845ish. I checked the spring and it seems ok, so what are other things I may have to check. Also does anyone know if these can be upgraded to the Amp regulator?

No, I can only achieve 856 now. That was my highest speed this evening.. My average was 846 I think.

I should have printed all of this. I think it finally settled down to 24. It was swinging wildly at first from high 790 to about 830or so. I even switched barrel liners to see if the ST liner would be better.

I had a gun that did this once. It ended up being a smashed valve stem. The stem was hindering the valve from opening all the way. Harder I tightened the hammer spring (to make up for the lost speed), the more I smashed the stem. Just an idea.

Maybe the regulator has settle over time to a less pressure or a barrel port misalignment. Have you had the gun apart, air tube clamp loosened? If so there's a chance the pellet probe depth could be different which will really screw with velocity and cocking.

I have not had the air tube loosened. I have considered putting in a Huma regulator because of this. The only other issue I have had was installing the STX liner. It seems FX used entirely to much locktite on the shroud. Between in my opinion to much heat and torque in the shroud to get it loose. I was wondering if the transfer port may be misaligned. I can twist the barrel with my hand maybe an eight inch back and forth. When I changed the liners yesterday to see if it had anything to do with it They both seemed snug when you slide them in place. So I don't think it would be the liner oring in the breach.

Have you done the tissue test? My guess would be an air leak in the mag well. When you installed the liner did you lube the breach end of the barrel where the thin groove is?

I did lube the liner. I think I'll replace the oring anyway, been watching a few videos this morning and I may do it this evening when I get back home. It's supposed to rain tonight anyway.

Skoby, I'm assuming the Wildcat MKII uses the same transfer port system that has an alignment notch built into it as the Impact and Crown so once the whole barrel assembly is pushed in and bottomed out it should dropped into the slot and not have hardly any movement. If the barrel is turning more than just a smidge maybe the stainless piece is loose from either the brass transfer port or the barrel tube. Everyone says the barrel tube is really tight and loc-tited on though. You might pull the set screw on top of the receiver that holds the transfer port in position and eye ball the set screw indention's that will be on the transfer port to make sure it hasn't rotated any.
Other than what's been mentioned above you might also back out the HS adjuster a couple of turns and start checking the velocity again and turning it in a 1/4 turn at a time and see if the velocity will increase. You might have too much HS tension.

Did you max out the hst in order to check the max fps? I'm asking thig because people usually think max hst means max fps and this is not always the case. In my Royale in fact i'm getting the max fps about 3 turns out from max.
The proper way to check your max fps is to go insreasing the hst by steps untill you see a drop on fps, at that point if you keep increasing it you'll see a significant drop om velocities.

Here's a picture of the 2 liners that's used in my .22 Wildcat. I guess it's time to check the rest of the barrel assembly. These type of liners just slide in so you don't need to remove all the breach parts.

Skoby, do you know what the regulator pressure was back when it was shooting 870 and do you know what it its now? Any difference in temps?

I have never checked the actual regulator pressure. I'm considering buying a Huma gauge and putting it in the bleed hole. But the temperature should be comparable I got it in the fall and yesterday it was 70ish degrees here in mid TN

Be a good idea to get a Wika gauge to screw into the port so that you can really see whats going on. A lot of Wildcat shooters, me included have added a semi-permanent gauge to monitor that pressure. I check mine quiet often and document the velocities in a note book. It's good to have a little history. Maybe something to consider.

Yep, I have the synthetic stock so I'm not worried about damaging the stock. I'll probably get my cousin to do the cutout and just leave it in all of the time.

Oh, I did the hammer adjuster too. I just received my DIP Kit in the mail today.....
It's much easier to lock-tite it down this way.
