Fx wildcat mk1 lose fps dramatically

Dear friends, 

One of my friends has Wildcat for last few years. Recently he disassembled the gun and reinstalled everything after changing a few O rings.

It was running fine at 940fps with 25 grain pellets but suddenly it dropped fps down to 700fps.

Regulator is working fine. 

The hammer is found damaged. 

Any idea what has gone wrong?

What may be the remedy?

Please advise.

So that hammer wear is usually caused by firing it with the bolt open, everyone usually does it once in a while, but not good. But back to your problem, my guess is his barrel transfer port is not aligned, on wildcats they are real easy to move a little, especially if putting on and off big moderators, real easy to over torque and move a little, real easy to fix, pull the barrel and see if the set screw has a slide mark on the brass?
also, those hammers are reverse able, so clean it up and use the other side.

Thank you sir but he has checked it already. The transfer port is well aligned.

If he loosened the clamps up, the probe depth probably got misaligned. 

Check that the measurement from the side of the breechblock to the end part of the feeding pin is between 28,55-28,8

In my experience shooting far below regulator pressure also causes this. I would order a new hammer from FXUSA. 2 cents worth..
