FX Wildcat Compact mkII vs Edgun Lelya 2.0

Hey guys, so I need some help spending my money. Title says it all. I own a Leshiy in 22, a full sized Wildcat mk2 in 25 and a r5 Mataor in 30 cal. I'm in the market again for another new air rifle, and I'm thinking between the 2. I basically try to keep my air rifles tuned for just one pellet and one pellet only. 18 gr 22's for my Leshiy (I may try with one of the lighter 22s to see how it goes), using 34 gr. mk2's for my Wildcat and now I'm looking to buy the Wildcat compact or Lelya 2.0 for 25 grain JSBs.

I don't think anyone in North America has their hands on the new Lelya's but I suspect quite a few have the r5m's. They're essentially the same air rifle except the length of barrels. I'd love to try out Ed's new line of forward cocking action guns but I've never used any. I intend to use both as more of hunting/carrying rifle then a bench gun, which is why I want a smaller package. Also I love Ed's new designs, the .30 matador I have is very ergonomic and feels great to shoulder, so I'm assuming it should feel comparable.

Then there's the Wildcat compact mk2. I love my full size, it's very accurate and it's very light with synthetic stock. Feels great to shoulder, IMO a little more comfortable than my Matador, but the Matador also weighs a lot more (WC compact 6.25 lbs to Lelya 6.5 lbs). I wouldn't mind owning two WC's as I already own one and it's a great accurate gun.

So what do you guys think for shooting the jsb 25.4 grain pellet? Wildcat compact or Lelya 2.0? Which would you pick given my current air rifles? Discuss!

Oh yeah, forgot to add that also. One of the main reasons I like the new EDguns is the simplicity of takedown. I hate servicing my guns and the EDgun stuff seems well thought out as far as doing maintenance. I haven't done a complete maintenance of the WC yet but I have installed a HuMa regulator in it, and it seemed pretty easy even for a guy like me who never tinkers. But yeah, I agree the EDguns seem a lot easier than most air rifles to service.

"intenseaty22"You could always sell the full size, and turn around and buy both Leila & WC Compact. Just an out of box thought.
I like my WC full sized, since I primarily intend to shoot the 34 gr. JSBs out of it. I feel like if you're going to try to get the 34 gr JSB's, it's better to have the longer barrel and not have to push out so much air with the already shorter barrel of the Compact, but I do appreciate the input. I feel like for me, the full sized WC although light and very balanced, I think it's more of a bench gun for me. I added a DonnyFL Koi moderator so it's really long now! Probably the quietest air rifle I own though. But to get back on point, yeah I intend to keep the full sized, since it would be better for King Heavies with the longer barrel.

Spent my firsy time two hours out at the range testing pellets in the Lelya 2.0. Here are my pellets I tested at 25 yards.

Most are 10 shot groups. The Super H, Polymag, Baracuda Power, Field Trophy I stop early knowing they were not for the gun.

JSB 15.89gr did the best. (No suprise) What did surprise me was the Ultra Shock from JSB. It's a 25gr flat nose with a hollow point. Not only accurate but devastating impacts; my next close range hunting round. Crosman shot about the same as JSB 15 grain (expect one bad flyer).

Here are my 52 yard groups.

My first try was one top, second in the middle, third bottom. Once I got a good rest, (sandbag) they tightened up. Bottom 9 out of 10 were .82 inches with only a 6x scope, one my first day with the gun, straight from the tin, 3mph wind with 15grain. With my SWFA 3-15x FFP MOA scope next time, no wind, sorted pellets the small gun will be Sub MOA, no problem.

I was correct about the Lelya over the Wildcat.

Just when back out with my Lelya 2.0 in .22cal. This time with my SWFA 3-15x ffp moa scope. It was 3-5mph wind from my 7 on this first pics.

All groups are 10 shots. Both 18 grain JSB and 25 grain Monster redesigned shot groups at least one close MOA group. This was all straight from the tin. I was going to pick the 18's for the gun because of a flater trajectory. (25grains were 6-7 moa drop at further down than 18 gains)

Then a storm came in and the wind increased to 6-10 or gusts maybe 15mph. I quickly did 4 mags of each 15, 18, 25, 34 JSB. Here is what happened:

The 15, 18 JSB had about the same POI. The 25's all stuck tight. The 34 grain Beasts were tight with a few fliers (one off paper). I could also see the had wobble also. (The ones I covered were from another target with other pellets I was zeroing.)

It looks as if I will be using 25grain Monster Redesigns for my Lelya. Ill try up the speed a little to flatten out the trajectory.

Here is my hollow point at 50 yards.

There were fliers and I could defiantly see some wobble. I noticed they did not slide into the barrel as smoothly as the diablo shaped pellets. When I forced them in, they were more likely to fly away.

"jaydoski"Thx for the post davidsng! I think it's literally the first thing I've seen on accuracy or review on the new Lelya, in English anyway. I'd love to read more about the gun when you get the chance!
I think I'm going to wait for the 25's to come in. Brian at EDGun West has one more in 22 and I almost grabbed it but I think I'll be patient.
I'm not so SOLD on a .25 being the end all to all hunting guns, like Ted is. A .22 offers more types of ammo: better selections of hollow points, more choices for head dia, weights of .22 ammo can be the same as .25 but have better BC's. The guns have higher shot counts and are quieter. My Lelya gets six magazines (60 shots or two full sets of mags at 30fpe!) from 300bar to 120. That's an all day fill for hunting. A .25 will need a buddy bottle to be lugged around with it in the field with you. Also, the extra jump in energy released in a .25 can buck a short gun, causing a POI shift and loss of accuracy too.

The only real benifit of a .25 is the concussive transfer of energy with a wider head dia and a slight range extention because extra energy released. Just my honest opinion.

Thanks, for the appreciation of my post!

Just took the Lelya out to 75 yards. JSB Monster Redesigneds 25 grains did not perform like I expected. Speed wss not ideal at 720fps and began spiraling past 50. Sped it up to 810fps but shot count suffered too much and plus, the group still was not as good as JSB 18grains at 850fps. Jumbo heavy 18grains at 75yards were 1.025". I will be sticking to JSB 18 grains at 850fps.

Tried once at 100 yards. 10 shot group was 1.89". First try. We"ll see what the future holds at 100 and 75 yards.

So glad I tried 100 yards yesterday. Ended up going out to a local permission in 10-12mph wind. A pigeon landed on the furthest silo and I did not have my range finder. My AO was on my scope said it was somewhere around 100yards. It was sighted in at 75 yards, held for even hundred and 8moa right for wind from directly from my 3 o'clock. Dropped it. Second kill of my Lelya's life (first kill was an easy 63 yards). Laser range found and confirmed 107 yards. Broke my old record by about 30 yards.

Might have been some luck. Had two other chances at the same spot. I used the same hold over and windage but miss both.
