FX Wildcat 25 hammer spring, is it adjustable?

Hey all, this is my first time posting on here. Still trying to figure everything out with a forum set up. I'm posing this question to any FX Wildcat 25 owners out there to see if the hammer spring tension can be adjusted to affect muzzle velocity. I just ordered my Wildcat and it hasn't shipped yet but wanted to know before I get it. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

WestwindYes you can but you need to heat up the thread lock
before you try to turn it or you will strip it out. Heat it
up slowly until it turns. I did mine with no problems.
i have heard of others stripping it out.
In some cases may need heat, others it doesn't. Try first with no heat, in case is too hard to unscrew try applying heat slowly like Westwind recommended you. Cheers

"Scalf"It takes very little pressure to strip out the allen wrench hole. I have stripped out two trying to do it with no heat. I would use heat. If you do mess it up AOA keeps them in stock. I think i paid about $18 each.
Not that I've stripped mine, but if you strip it, how do you then get it out? Just wondering.

Some guys use a torch, others go with a soldering iron. I used a heat gun and made an aluminum foil "funnel" to direct the air on the hammer plug and not mess up the graphics on the gun or over heat the block. There's not much "meat" on that cheesy little plug...I just used a allen head one size up (since I striped it slightly on the first try) and it fit perfectly. Once I got it out, I slotted it with a Dremel disc so a flat blade screw driver would fit it. Just use a tiny little bit of threadlocker to secure it after that.

The reason I attempted this in the first place was because of the great success guys were having with the .25 Impact with King Heavies at around 850 fps....I was at about 805 with the Wildcat and couldn't resist trying to get another 30-40 fps! As I found out, that was the max I could get....910 with Kings and 805 with Heavies. Funny thing, at one point as you're increasing the spring load, it actually slows the velocity down as you screw it further in. Mine gets it's maximum velocity about 2 full turns BEFORE you reach the stop at the end. More is not always better I guess. Probably has something to do with the fact that FX uses some of the components of the "free flight hammer" in this gun (at least that's what I've read). Purely speculation on my part but maybe the hammer reaches maximum speed AFTER the spring extends to it's full length and not before. Too much for my little brain to digest.

Anyway, this is one heck of a gun and I have enjoyed it over the 2 months I've had it. The only other Premium PCP I own is a BSA SuperTen in .22 caliber, had it for about 10 years. The difference I see is the Wildcat's ability to deliver loads of knockdown power and accuracy out beyond 100 yards whereas the S10 falls off fast beyond 75. One of the best barrels ever made was the BSA hammer forged .22 barrel but the smooth twist .25 can still edge it out off the bench. The consistency is amazing!

To some of you fellas who've fiddled around with the power adjuster...do you happen to know the size and thread type FX uses on that plug? Not that I like to mess with power settings, cuz I don't, but I'd like to make a plug that's got more substance. Thanks guys!

Thank you for your reply. Not sure I'm gonna do it, but your info will certainly help if I do.

One thing I am gonna do is shave the pointy part off the lever that advances the magazine as you cock the Wildcat. I saw a really YouTube video about that.
