FX Wildcat .177

UPS driver came a whole business day early and delivered this pup to me today.
First 177 bullpup in my stable and for the price I paid during Black Friday, if it continues to shoot as is, I think it was a steal.

I got it topped up with a Hawke 4-16x44 side focus mild dot scope and after zeroing, I'm able to easily and repeatedly hit a 1.5" spinner at 53 yards in 5 mph winds.

Against my better judgment, I opted to keep the original regulator for now. I figured I have a year under warranty with FX so if I develop a leak, the cocking arm pin falls out, or something else happens to it, it's under warranty and will be covered. I don't like to tinker with my airguns as much as some so I'd opt to send it out for repairs.

That being said, if I do develop issues with the regulator after a year when it's no longer in warranty, then the HUMA reg is going in.

Out of the box it's shooting the 10.34g JSB's at 922 fps.

The trigger needed a little work out of the box, but now it's great. Nowhere near as good as the Taipan trigger out of the box.

Pros: Laser accurate and it's not even broken in yet. Lots of shots per fill! I stopped counting. Looks great, relatively light.

Cons: Kinda loud! I ended up ordering the DonnyFL adapter for it so I can hook up the Tatsu to it. Trigger was OK but not great out of the box. The HST is glued on so any adjustments will likely require me to use a heatgun to break the seal.

More to come with this one.

Those FX Mk1 ST barrels in 177 are winners! But FYI they need to be shot HOT for best accuracy!

The 850-890fps rule does not apply with the FX ST barrels. Around the 920s up to 960s is the key

for the best accuracy. If you want to tinker around with lessening the power you will need to replace

the barrel with a Lothar Walther in order to shoot accurately at lower velocities to get decent results.

I wouldn't even bother breaking the HST adjuster FYI. It would be pointless to experiment with less

power if you want to keep it shooting accurately.

Great shooting and initiation!

Did you manage to set trigger to Taipan level yet?

The trigger is better. Two stage for sure. 1st stage is a little longer than I like and the second stage is light. However, the second stage wall is a little more vague than on the Taipan. I’m not sure if I can improve on it. That crispy “breaks like glass” feeling just isn’t there.

I may end up tweaking it a bit here or there but for now it’s good as is.
