FX STX Superior vs Superior Heavy accuracy shooting JSB heavy pellets

Question:

Could I assume a FX slug barrel have more rifling? in conjunction with a heavy JSB pellet trump a smooth twist barrel shooting heavy JSB pellets ?

Or am I wrong on the rifling facts?

25 cal up to 100 yards or so

Not more rifling but a faster twist rate. JSB Heavy pellets should work just fine in a standard liner.

I have the slow 1/37 twist in my .30 Maverick shoots all JSBs very well. The other liners are 1/22 and 1/18

I would not go with a slug barrel if you do not plan to use slugs. Unless you are going to have just one liner and you plan to use slugs in the future. Then pellets can work quite nice in a slug liner. However, current pellet liners have pretty fast twist rate anyway.

I have the same setup in 25 cal M3. I shoot FX 34 grain. I have gone back and forth testing between the two liners. I feel they shoot the same degree of accuracy. Does anyone have a good setting for this pellet( 1st reg, 2nd reg, mic, mac valve settings, velocity) ? I am currently shooting 875fps, 150/95 reg pressures,max hammer spring to 905fps reduced to 875fps with valve adjuster.

In .25 find a slug A liner for the 33.95. I will say it edges out the Superior or Superior Heavy in accuracy.

FPS 905 seems to be the sweet spot for me in the Slug A liner.

I noticed the Superior liner for me at least likes a bit slower speed (830-870ish) but mileage my vary.

This is some valuable info that just saved me time and money, I got my 25 barrel yesterday and boy it already out performs my 22 cal barrel

Now I want to sell all my many tins of 22 to go all 25, boy these FX 33.95 are accurate and hit like a train over the 22

The 22 cal also has 34 gr pellets to if you need more weight in the 22 pellets it not as big a hole as 25 though they would be a tad harder to push to speed than the 25 cal 34 gr are

There is no real advantage the heavy has superior if you are shooting pellets except if you are shooting at very low speed like 550fps or have the option to use slugs. The 34 grain pellets JSB or AA or FX are indeed superb especially at longer distances, the .22 pellets really cant compare.

one question..why does the superior heavy in .25(for heavy slugs) has the same twist rate as the .177 pellet superior that hates anything over 13 grains ?

Supposedly the superior liner should be the best liner for pellets and short slugs. And the superior heavy with a fast twist rate, should work better for longer slugs.

The superior liners replace the the stx and slug liners. Supposedly the superior does it all.

however, you will find lots of conflicting data on this. Because many ppl have successfully shot most ammo though all of the liners.

I can tell you the 500mm slug linerA shot the 34g heavies quite well. (Keep in mind, sometimes the faster twist rate required slower speeds)

the 700 superior shot them more accurately at long range. 


however, I had a LW poly no choke barrel that out performed them both possibly because it was a solid barrel.

I'm going to give the superior heavy a chance first with 34 gr jsb and FX 34 gr pellets in 25 cal if it doesn't work out I'll change it back to the regular superior barrel I guess I'll find out and if it works out then I won't have to switch when I want to shoot slugs 25 cal 700 using cf sleeve and putting tension on it also

I’ve shot .25 34 grain heavies out of STX, superior and heavy and they all shot great out to 100 yards. Only difference I can really tell is heavy definitely has a bit more spin drift, about 1 inch more at 100 yards.
