FX Streamline pellet clipping?

i have an FX Streamline with A Donny FL Tatsu. Every couple shots I take I get a really bad flyer and I get a Smokey smell afterwards. Could this be pellet clipping? I have taken the moderator off to check but haven’t found any signs. Any idea what it might be?

If you have not as yet, I would try cleaning the gun and also check if your pellets are undamaged. Are you using JSB's? I hope you get it resolved.

Check the moderator for baffle strikes

With the smokey smell you may have some oil in the valve or thereabouts. Could be detonating at times and the pellet moving too fast. Have you been shooting it over a chronograph? Regards, Tom

Funshine: I am using JSB 18s, AOA cleans the barrel before shipping, I cleaned the barrel also but I place my targets on a wood poster so I can not tell if pellets are damaged. 



Gaberossi: I have taken the moderator apart and haven’t found anything. 



Tkerrigan: I am shooting the gun in medium and low power. I don’t believe it’s oil, the rifle is about 2 weeks old and there was no Smokey smell until I added the moderator to the end.

Well, JSB's should not be the issue. When I received my Streamline from AOA, I cleaned it and it was dirty according to the first cloth that I pulled through with some Ballistol. My FX was no different. I can tell you that sometimes if some lubricant/oil or grease get with the pellet you'll have smell/smoke. I had that effect with my Springers. Maybe, you just need to fire more pellets through it and see if it continues to do that. Try shooting a few pellets without the Moderator. Is it the FX Moderator? Good Luck.

It’s the Donny FL Tatsu and I just received it the other day. Before I shot with out the moderator and there were no issues. I ran patches after I picked it up from AOA and there was nothing to clean. Just assumed they cleaned them since mine didn’t have any gunk. I will continue to shoot and see if problem resolves itself.
