FX SSTX barrel length with slugs

Hi,

Ted in one of his movies mentioned that STX rifling is not as aggressive as e.g. LW rifling and it encourages the slug to spin. It does not insist on spinning as traditional rifling. It means that if we have a longer STX barrel the projectile will leave it with a faster spin than if it was shot from a shorter STX barrel - assuming same v0.

What's your opinion?

Twist rate and velocity determine spin rate, barrel length doesn't. (Unless I'm missing something)

Projectile rotates in accordance to twist rate no matter the rifling method.

Glem is spot on.

I’ll just mention a special case represented by the original Smooth Twist which was only partially rifled near the muzzle. That arrangement caused the pellet to skid through the rifling and pick up only a small portion off the rifling’s twist rate.

Yeah I don't think it is a progressive twist rate I ran into that only once in a pb I think it was to stabilize the 460 s&w if I remember correctly
