FX Slug liners have shipped today!

Well after pre-ordering it a while ago they finally have shipped out! I just got the Email today from UAG.

Hoping they will be all that I expect and more!

I'll try the H&N Piledrivers that I already have. If they don't work well, I'll order some neilsen boat tail slugs. We'll see!

Just wanted to let you guys know the wait is over for us normal mortals!

@gunsnknives Sure will!

@ perkyVal I have the Impact "X" in .22 cal

I haven't heard of being able to order just the barrel. I was trying to figure out a way to get the barrel with slug liner (instead of the pellet liner), but AOA doesn't know if that will ever be an option. Best you could do is to buy the "upgrade" option, which gets you the X barrel and pellet liner, but no moderator or pellet probe.

BTW, mine did arrive :)

Cheers,

Rusty

Toku, you'll have to buy the barrel with liner. Best they offer. Ask the retailer if they can put the liner you want into the Upgrade barrel/liner option. I recently bought the barrel and liner upgrade but it was with the A liner and I don't shoot 25gn JSB but rather, 34gn MKII. So I'll probably sell the A liner by itself and get the B as well as the slug liner

Wish I had known but at least I'm only out a c-note.

http://www.airgunsofarizona.com/barrel-accessories/fx-impact-smooth-twist-x-barrel-upgrade/ This X Barrel Upgrade comes with the A Liner inside. They will not put a different Liner in it and sell it to us...so if you want this X Barrel Upgrade you are going to get an A Liner whether you like it or not. You may then purchase the B Liner or Slug Liner if you like. I just got my X Barrel Upgrade Monday afternoon, and my B Liner arrives next Monday...I may go for a Slug Liner also.

Best regards, Chuck

Please whoever gets the slug liner, compare pellet drop from pellets->to slugs at the same fps and distances. You'll get a +1 from all of us lol. Might not be worth the swap if pellet drop is negligible and accuracy/group sizes are similar. Especially when you can compensate the poor bc of the pellets by slinging them faster. Kinda reminds me of the .223 debate to .300 blackout. 300blackout has superior bc but .223 is going faster so you will have less drop at similar ranges. 300blackout becomes a lob machine at certain distances.

I guess I can calculate the data on chair gun but real world side by side comparisons would be nice.

The slug liners have the exact same Twist rate as the liner that came in my Impact X. The guys at UAG said they have a different choke?

But we'll see if these liners can live up to the hype?

I pulled my slug liner, and compared it to the liner that came in the X barrel upgrade. The twist rate does appear to be the same, about 1 in 19". It does also appear that there is a difference in the choke as suggested. I measure about the same inside diameter for both ends of the slug liner, and the breech end of the pellet liner, but the muzzle end of the pellet liner is slightly smaller. I also noticed that my cleaning rod is a pretty easy fit everywhere but the muzzle end of the pellet liner, where it just barely fits.

What happened to the theory that slugs need a higher spin rate?

That is interesting. Will the slug liner shoot pellets? Maybe you can use the slug liner for both and don’t need to swap?

It's kinda dark now, but I just shot some 18gr pellets at 30 yards, and they shoot great. It would be interesting to compare pellets in the slug barrel to my old ST barrel since it's an easy swap.
