What happened to the theory that slugs need a higher spin rate?

The longer the projectile, the higher the required spin rate to stabilize. The STX slug liner is designed to be used with (speaking of the .25 since that is what I have and have researched) up to a 39 grain slug, which coincidentally is exactly what fits in a stock magazine. At least in a Side Shot mag, I haven't actually tried a FX mag but I assume it is comparable. Once you get into a heavier (read longer) slug they may perform better with a higher twist rate barrel. I will eventually be reporting on the performance of .25 slugs in a 1 in 14" twist rate which is what TJ's .25 barrel comes with. When I get my Impact back from the gunsmith I will start a new thread.

Speaking of magazines, does anyone here have a .22 side shot magazine they can measure? I've emailed side shot twice now, asking what the max length of pellets their magazine can hold, and I've received no reply. I'd like to know if the side shot holds any longer slugs, and it if works better with the shorter slugs than the FX mag does.
