FX Royale significant price drop

Anyone notice on AOA's site and Precisionairgunsandsupplies the FX Royale's lower prices? Royale 500 went from $1719 (IIRC) plus $210 for a regulator, total of $1929, down to $1549 with a regulator standard. That's almost $400 lower. I'm glad they discounted mine when I bought it in February, but it wasn't that cheap. Oh well, nice to see prices on PCP's falling.

Haha me too! I also posted on another forum and got crickets there as well. I suppose it matters more to you and I since we bought right before the price drop. I'm not as annoyed as I imagine some would be because I'm in sales and sometimes profit more than the mark up they have in these guns so I have empathy for those that make a living in sales. Dealing with a general public that sometimes seem like they would just as soon ostracize you for making any money gives me a sense understanding that the commission is usually hard earned. Some folks seem to think you practically owe them your soul for making a few bucks off them.

Although I'm not rich, and certainly would rather have paid the lower price, I also understand that "profit" isn't a dirty word. Also, I'm pretty sure the sales guys at AOA aren't driving to work in Ferrari's lol. But you're right, I thought there would be more commenting one way or the other.

Regardless, this is my second Royale and I love it. It's the only gun I've ever bought two of because I missed it so much and that's after trying many guns/brands over the last few years after selling my first Royale. I'm really happy to have another one.

"Monkyshine"I am considering the royale as a second gun Cliff. Hope it meets the accuracy standards of your early model royal 500. I am also considering a RAW. I am really satisfied with my FX but cant stand the horrible phone/email support in our country from its only importer.
Haha, I hear what you're saying. Sometimes you just want someone to pick up the phone and be at your disposal for a few minutes. I've had sporadic good luck calling them, but by the time I actually get someone one the phone I almost feel rushed because I know they are basically on the phone all day and are just trying to get through each call as quickly as possible.

That being said, I've been able to get everything done with them that I want and they've been plenty fair and nice and never hesitate to tell me to send the gun in for warranty work if needed.

This Royale, while it still needs some more vetting in the accuracy dept. has shown real promise so far in regards to how it performs compared to my first one. I was able to print these two, back to back 43 yard groups the other day using the JSB Heavy Kings MKII. Each group is a full mag, 11 shots, no fliers. Very similar to my last Royale and puts a smile on my face. I need some more time and a bit more distance but I already feel very confident with the gun on the bench.

Here are 4 groups shot back to back, a full mag in each hole with my first Royale at a full 50 yards using the regular JSB Kings a couple of years ago. I adjusted the scope a bit between groups, hence the slight shift in POI. If this new gun can replicate this kind of performance from the old one, man, I'll be a happy camper!

44 shots, back to back, no fliers!! I left the bench that night with a huge smile on my face! haha

Do your FX Bobcats have the original Indy style stock or the current bobcat stock? Also did you ever add a regulator to any of them? Would you at any point be willing to trade one of your bobcats? I'm on the fence about trading my Vulcan.25 for either a Wildcat.25 or Bobcat.25 although I love my Vulcan it's the only way I would be able to try another great Bullpup right now as money is tight with the wife and daughter and another little one on the way. That's why I currently have 4 air rifles a Handpump and an LDC on the classifieds right now.

Cliff that is very fine groups! Nothing wrong with that at all. And TKA87, I have the newest stocks. Presently my bro and I are comparing our numbers shooting the JSB heavies mkll,s. We have tuned our guns to shoot 33 shots with ES of 16 and SD of 6 at 818 fps. A regulator probably will not do much better but may get my shot count up. Both guns shoot .5" at 50y. And no I would never sell these guns. These heavies have major knockdown energy at range.

I think this is great, I feel the Chinese guns are at least $300 overpriced . The British and Swedish guns are also overpriced that or more mostly due to the exclusive importer etc. Compare the prices between air arms and FX. Seems like one is a little inflated, too many hands in the cookie jar. Also the lower prices will bring in more shooters. A guy can get a couple nice pb's for the price of one Daystate not even adding in fill setups or optics. And most of the PB pricing includes wholesale and dealers, granted the volume is much higher but by making this sport artificially stagnant does nothing to help it grow. Look at FX they are coming out with budget models that compete with more expensive models that I think will make it harder for them to sell the more expensive models in the volume they did. Look at what the wildcat did to the Bobcat. Now the Impact is taking the share of the other models. I see the prices falling more this year as the Impact is more available.

Well I hope you enjoy the Bobcats I really like those guns but with my current financial situation unless I trade something I won't be outright buying one. I also really like that Air Arms TDR only wish it was in .25 but hope they start adding a better factory moderator because the one with the set screw is a little bothersome with the potential to mark up the barrel when removing it or fitting it back on.

I noticed the price drop too-perhaps in anticipation of the new streamline? I am on the fence-still-about which PCP having only one of mrodair's varmints. Sure, I've looked at all the new bob kittens and really have given some consideration to the Mutant, but I always go back to the more traditional styled rifle and thought I had it pretty narrowed down to an AA S510 extra as the Royale's were too high. Now with the price drop, it sure is more tempting. Do I pay more for the regulator, or shoot it unregulated? I can see if I were to get it in .177 and were going to try to shoot FT with it, that a regulator would be beneficial, but what if I am just getting it in .22 for shooting and plinking?

Rancho, FX is coming out with a traditionally styled sporting rifle called the Streamline. It will be regulated and the synthetic version will be around $995 with the walnut being a bit more. If the Royale series, even with the price drop still feels like it costs too much, you may want to wait till this rifle comes out. Here's a link to a mini review from the IWA shot show.
