I bought the mkII in the first place with a slug liner to shoot .30cal slugs and it doesn't work well. Too slow. I thought the power plenum would solve the problem...

Speed maxes out around 145 bar, if it is much lower than this something is wrong like the hammer seat coming loose which should be fixed with Loctite.

There is indeed something wrong but still couldn't figure out what it is... Hammer seat well fixed. I've got a second power plenum kit that has just arrived for my second impact (X model this time) and I will see if I get more "normal" results with this one. It might help me find where the problem comes from...

The external valve spring return is great design, different spring rate can tune Per caliber, installed in seconds without Entering the pressure boundary, light spring benefits the larger caliber. Use the old long spring used on the valve rod. 25-45 fps increase.

Thats normal... more back pressure in the plenum makes the valve harder to open. Which makes speed less, more reg pressure needs more hammer to open the valve.

He does used the rod spring. Ernest does not install the rod spring inside the tube.

Ernest just told me that with or without the long spring inside the tube are both good.

The advantage without the long spring inside the tube is that you dont have to tear down the Impact for adjustment and fine tuning.

You can use the long spring to replace the new power plenum spring and cut it for fine tuning your specific caliber.

The hammer spring with the power plenum kit is 52 mm long

The original hammer spring is 57 mm long.

If you use the 57 mm long hammer spring you will get more pressure to open the valve.

That's exactly what Ernest told me a few hours ago. I hadn't noticed the length difference and just installed the spring provided in the kit. I will try with the original MKII spring wich I measured at 56.6mm indeed...
