FX Pocket Chrono V2

Anybody tried the new V2 of the FX Pocket Chrono?
I did buy one. My first impression was not good. Tried it indoors. It did read my .25 cal rifle, but not my .117 above approx. 500 fps. Only occasional readings below and nothing above.
Sent it back to the dealer. They tested it and found it OK, but it was picky on the location of the chrono. Must be ON the barrel, 5cm (2”) behind the muzzle. I tried that but with no luck.
Does these things require a large room and long distance for the bullet to travel?
Anybody having this chrono?

Mine works the same as yours. Hit or miss with the 177, works great with the 25. I’ve only used it on my 20 yard basement range. Sometimes reinstalling the app gets it going for a bit but that doesn’t make sense. The unit always connects to my phone, it just doesn’t register the shot (blue light). The phone and app should not have anything to do with the unit picking up the shot.

i dont have the v2 but i do have the first version.

im guessing the app is the same?

go into the settings and lower the minimum return setting,(pic included)
right on the minimum return settings page it says you may need to lower the setting for small calibers.

Unfortunately, they do not seem to offer that feature for the V2. Same app, but it gives different options based on the device you are using.

Exact same app but you have to pick your device or it auto selects the device you connect to.

FX Radar is the app I’m using on my iPhone.

The echo that reflects back from walls is a biggest enemy of these FX radars...not a placement around the barrel.
Try to position your shooting lane not to be parallel to walls, or place some sound dampening materials around you

That’s interesting. The only place I’ve used mine is in my basement and I shoot through a door.

I switched mine to the other side of my rifle and it works much better. It still misses a few 177 shots but it picks up every 25.

do you have both leds next to the charing port on all the time? Or they turn off?

They turn off. Just the green by the switch is on. Then blue when it registers.
