Trying to find an air leak on my FX maverick and suspect valve seat o-ring. Seems like the videos I’m watching all of them have a special tool or fabricated something for removal. Looking for cheap tool, idea, application to get the job done.

I have had mine apart a few times and do not recall needing any special tools. Interested to see what others contribute here

I took a look at the tool and saw that it just clamped on to the end of the reg stem. I'll just modify a pair of needle nose pliers by blunting the tips, milling grinding the sides down and drilling a hole down the jaws. I've done this before for other hard to pull out assemblies.

Here are a couple of photos of the tool I made for removing the valve seat on my Dreamline. Just ground a little step into the jaws of an old pair of forceps just like the tool that Ernest Rowe made. Should work exactly the same on your Maverick since it is a very similar design valve seat arrangement. I have also attached a link to the video on disassembly of the Maverick. Go to the 9 minute mark in the video and you will see Ernest using the forceps he modified to remove the valve seat. Good luck, I hope you are able to get your leak fixed.

or if you have some brass picks just reach under it and you can ease it out. Putting it back in you need a flat dowel, put it in by hand then push with the dowel. I happened to have a piece of brass the right size.

reverse tweezers might be easier, you squeeze to open them, bend the ends 90º out, put in release and pull. Haven't done it but they are really handy. If Harbor Freight doesn't have them Amazon does. Cross Lock Fiber Grip Soldering Tweezers
