Tuning FX Maverick magazine issue

Could it be that the magazine spring is not advancing the next pellet into correct alignment to be fed into the barrel. That happened to my Crown. It is also a problem that wasn’t all that uncommon once I started researching it. If that is your problem it has a relatively easy fix. You will need to open up the magazine and increase the spring tension. I don’t know how different your Maverick magazine is from my Crown MK2 magazine but probably not a lot. Do a quick search here and you will find a tutorial on increasing the magazine tension.

I can't even load the first pellet. I manually took out the first pellet to see if it would load a second. Nothing. To me it feels like the pellet is not lining up with the probe.

I haven't changed a thing on the rifle and like I said, the Orion mag works perfect. I'm at a loss. I'm thinking it's something simple but the fact that one mag works, the other doesn't makes me feel like it's a mag issue. What that issue is I have no idea.

Are you shooting using the dual transfer port ?

On my .177 changing to a dual transfer port ( Huma ) i found that with the factory probe, loading pellets was far from as effortless as when using the single transfer port.

So i changed to a pin probe, and that did help some though some pellets not least "lighter" pellets around 10 grain are still a bit different to chamber, i can not say if even lighter pellets would be even worse as i dont have any.

Have you tried other pellets / lighter / heavier ones to see if that change anything ??

I just purchased a Maverick. One of my mags was loose in the box and...who in the heck knows where the o-ring went.

As close as I can tell, the o-ring is 5mm - 5.25mm dia, 1.75mm thick and a 2.75mm hole.... The hole it goes into is 1.46mm deep and 4.82mm diameter. All that said this is an issue here is a link to the correct size..https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MNJX3ZB/..a wee bit of removable adhesive is recommended, thread link https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/fx-maverick-magazine-o-ring.1103730/

Even though I mainly use my Orion mags I should order those to have on hand. Good find.

I’ll look for it. Thanks

A possible way around the o-ring is to move the barrel back ever so slightly to where it's VERY close to the mag. I've got one mag in my box without a o-ring, BAD PACKING JOB from the guy I bought the gun from, the stuff was rattling around in the box, just like it was a demo gun. The mag is a FIT between in the slot, not tight just have to be careful, the mags don't fall out, even with no o-ring. Just something to think about, I have zero idea if it's good or bad but my groups so far seem good using a red dot at 25 yards.

A lot of feeding problems on the Maverick are caused by the magazine contacting the cheek rest, which keeps the magazine from seating fully into position. If you have a feeding problem, then try taking the cheek rest off the gun and see if your ammo feeds OK without the cheek rest. If that works, then you need to see which cheek rest you have -- either the hollow one with ribs in it, or the solid piece one. If you have the hollow one, then insist that fx customer support send you a solid cheek rest at their expense since it is their screw up for giving you a crap part. If you have the solid one, then you will just have to sand off any part of it that is contacting the magazine.

The problem was remedied long ago, and posted above.
