FX Maverick 2nd Regulator setting?

I got tired of all the nonsense about differentials. So the last time I tuned my Sniper I set the first reg at 180 then started tuning. I ended up with the 2nd reg @ 135 to shoot 27.5 gr slugs. The only difference I saw was my plenum seemed to recover quicker. The first reg has zero affect on the what is downstream of the 2nd reg.
The only purpose it serves is lighten the load on the 2nd reg.
I know a guy who set his first reg @ 200 and his second @ 90. No issues and if he wants to up his second reg to tune for slugs or heavier pellets all he has to do is increase pressure on the 2nd reg. No dumping air to adjust the 1st reg to accomodate.
I am an FX fan boy and admit it with a smile on my face. However, I question the value of the two reg set up.

All great info, thank you!

FX says 40 - 50 differential, It's just to take it easier on the #2, beyond that MEH. The HSA is 19.4 stock setting point. They say you can raise the #2 without degassing, a Brit, suggests putting your wrench in the reg, fire a shot and give it a little twist, firing it reduces the pressure on the contact points thusly the possibility of messing up the mating surfaces. YMMV on this. I figure it can't hurt.

For me , working within the factory parts I have my first reg set around 130. That will give me plenty of room for my second reg pressures. If you're only running 130+ that's not much pressure on your 2nd reg. Your first reg has to regulated 3500 psi down to 130. And they are the same regs . So I look at like the first reg will need a rebuild long, long before the second reg needs one.
