Fx maverick 25?

It will shoot hybrids and slugs. Shooting the hybrids will not require any additional accessories; slug power kit. If you want to get even more out of your Maverick then add the slug power kit and you can shoot slugs as well.
The nice thing with the hybrids is you don't need the superior heavy as the hybrids were made to shoot out of the stock barrel.

I'm hoping...I shoot in crazy Kansas wind...I absolutely love my taipan but it's not ideal for long range

It will shoot the Hybrids great and it will shoot the lighter slugs well too. You will get more velocity if you have the dual transfer port, modified probe, slug kit, hammer weight, etc… It’s not necessary to shoot the lighter slugs like the VK 32.8 or lighter NSA slugs though. It’s important to set up your gun properly, put in the time testing various slugs before you do anything else and go from there. My son’s Maverick has Ernest’s dual transfer port and we modified his probe, other than that it’s bone stock, we’ve shot the Hybrids, NSA 29.5, VK 32.8, NSA 33.5 and NSA 34.9 with great results. Try some slugs and see how they do, you can always make changes as you progress to new slugs.

Have fun. Stoti

Jerry, You have made an excellent choice and will be able shoot any number of pellets/slugs in the configuration you receive it. No internal adjustment necessary. Break it in with whatever you have to shoot my friend, Coupla' tins or boxes of this or that will do just fine. Let her settle in before you muck about. If you need suggestions on what it might like I can recommend the 25.39 and 33.95 JSB pellets along with the Hybrid slugs. Nick Nielsen's selection of NSA slugs are fantastic as well. Have fun and shoot. Kansas where?

I installed the slug power kit with the pin probe and changed the transfer port as well on my .22. I also have the Sniper version so my numbers will be different than yours as the VP is a 600mm. If you plan on shooting hybrids and slugs that's what I would practice with to achieve your goals.
Heavier slugs will fight the wind better and the additional parts are to keep that heavier slug moving. Not sure what speeds everyone else is speaking of but 32gr Griffin boat tails are at 1025fps and the VK 30gr are at 1040fps. You will definitely want to get a bunch of slugs and as 2L8 stated, and shoot away until you find your magic slug.
