Since its announcement in April 2021, the FX Integrated Harmonic Barrel Tuner has become one of the most anticipated accessories ever for an airgun! It’s easy to see why as this integrated shroud system offers new features that will change your tuning process and give you a level of precision control previously not available to an airgun.

The FX Integrated Harmonic Barrel Tuner offers both dampening and tuning features that were jointly developed between Chris Turek of UpNorthAirgunner and Fredrik Axelsson of FX Airguns. The result is not just a harmonic barrel tuner, but a complete tuning device that incorporates many barrel dampening qualities to result in the best accuracy you can get from an airgun.

The shroud of the Integrated Tuner is made of high-grade carbon fiber. The carbon fiber adds dampening qualities, stiffness, and exponentially more de-resonating qualities when compared to aluminum. Carbon fiber is also not as affected thermally. The thermal heat expansion of a hot sun on a standard aluminum shroud can heat and create POI shifts through thermal flex. Carbon fiber on the other hand is affected 1/10th as much as aluminum, thus drastically reducing this effect. Dampening is further enhanced by de-resonating rings that have been engineered into the base of the shroud that squeeze the barrel and further reduce vibrations through the barrel.

These above features, when combined with the recently released FX Carbon Fiber Liner Sleeve, absolutely stiffen the barrel system which further lowers the barrel’s harmonic amplitude (or whip) throughout the entire shot cycle. Both factors combined, create tighter shot groups, but are only part of the overall barrel tunning that this FX system brings.

The core of the Tuner is its integrated rotating running weight, located on the end of the shroud. Made from a specifically selected metallic alloy; this allows the running weight to have enough mass to affect the weight distribution of the overall barrel system. Shooters will find that even the smallest amount of rotating adjustment of the tuner weight by only a few thousands of an inch can change how the rifle shoots. The brilliance of this is a tool-free design. The weight has been designed to hold its position without the need of grub screws!

The Harmonic Tuner comes with three caliber specific ends that thread into the tuner allowing for the addition of an airgun moderator as well as acting as an air stripper to further aid accuracy. These come in a .177/.22 Cal, .25 Cal & .30 Cal. The FX Integrated Harmonic Barrel Tuner will be offered initially in 500mm, 600mm & 700mm lengths for the FX Impact. Plans are in place to create integrated tuners for other FX rifles.

In addition, FX will also be releasing the FX Removable Harmonic Barrel Tuner. This tuner takes the core rotating tuning weight from the Integrated Shroud and places it in a removable unit for use with any ½” UNF threaded airgun! It also includes and utilizes the air stripping effects of the caliber specific muzzle threads.

These tuners are starting to ship to FX dealers worldwide in the coming weeks. The FX Integrated Harmonic Barrel Tuner starts at $149.99 USD (500mm) with $10 increments per longer barrel length. The FX Removable Harmonic Barrel Tuner is $79.99 USD.

And to avoid the rumor mill and gossiping: Browning received a patent for the original barrel tuner back in 1992-93. That patent has since run out which is why there are around 7 or 8 companies in the firearm world with barrel tuners. FX has taken that idea (that anyone can do - and many are) and tailored it to the airgun world. We're not posturing that we invented this, just tailored and perfected it to airguns: caliber specific threaded inserts to air strip, carbon fiber shroud, dampening rings engineered into the base, tool-less tuning weight to remove the need for a grub screw (that would then throw off the achieved harmonic tune!). Our approach is also an attached inline tuner that will work with almost all airguns rather than an over the barrel approach of the other firearm companies.

Just full transparency so you can see the reality of things. Many are fans of ATS in the firearm world. We understand a passionate fan base that might not fully understand the behind the scenes workings of manufacturing. ATS actually knew what we were doing (as we of course wanted to make sure we did things properly) and we see know patent that is being infringed upon. But we do have communication with ATS in case something was missed.

Hope that clears things up.

Noticing that FX left the .35 off the list for harmonic tuning. Has FX given up on the .35 caliber? Not even the carbon fiber sleeve, extremely curious on this...

There's a big bore version in the works. The size and the weight of this tuner limited it to .30 cal and under.

In the works like the slug liner? just really trying to see where FX is headed with the .35 platform because if there isn't one in the plans I need to switch caliber's and look for a big bore that can shoot slugs for hunting.

Thank you for responding in advance...

.35 Slug liner is being perfected now. The .35 Hybrids are being launched in September as they are perfected and being run.
