FX Indy or FX Independence Reliability ? Pumps per shots ?

Folks, I posted the same question back in 2012 on the yellow forums an got little response back. So I have a few questions for real life users of the FX indy.

1. How is the Reliability ? Is it Sheridan pump reliable ?
2. How often do you have to rebuild the pump if at all ?
3. Real world pumps per a shot ? .177, 22, 25 and 30 ? I hear 16 pumps per 30 cal at 80 FPE ??
4. Any difference between the Indy and Independence besides size bullpup design ?
5. How do you like it overall ? You get sick of the pumping ?
6. Should I just by a Sheridan .177 and pump 8 times for 1 12 FPE shot ?
My logic is probably stick with a .177 since it is my understanding you get about 1 shot per a pump ?

Any additional information would be great ?

I have an independence in .22. I had less than 5 magazines thru it when it developed a leak, couldn't get it to pump up to 200bar, it was less than a year old so back to AOA. It took almost a month to get it back. But its been holding pressure ever since On the average I have to pump it four times per shot to keep it at 200bar. The trigger was great out of the box. Its very quiet or as they say backyard friendly. I'm sure its capable of shooting better groups than I can hold. I'm currently shooting CPHP's Are you shooting targets or vermin?
If you're doing a lot of shooting in a short time you might get tired of pumping. For my application its been perfect and I would do it again except I would start of with a bigger scope. I started with a used Hawk 4X12, I just got a Athlon 6X24

I own one since 2012

Extremely reliable! I had to replace one o-ring once, that's it.

2. How often do you have to rebuild the pump if at all ?
Not once in the past 5 years.

3. Real world pumps per a shot ? .177, 22, 25 and 30 ? I hear 16 pumps per 30 cal at 80 FPE ??
In .22 it's 5 shots at full power and then 15 pumps to get from 90 back to 200 bar

4. Any difference between the Indy and Independence besides size bullpup design ?
I don't believe there is.

5. How do you like it overall ? You get sick of the pumping ?
Love it! It's my first PCP, many others came and went, but this one is here to stay. I've won numerous competitions with it shooting from an diving bottle, and when I'm out plinking with the mates, I don't mind the pumping. It's good exercise and pretty smooth. ;)

6. Should I just by a Sheridan .177 and pump 8 times for 1 12 FPE shot ?
Can't compare the two. The FX is far more superior, and one or two pumps is enough for one shot, depending on the power setting.

My logic is probably stick with a .177 since it is my understanding you get about 1 shot per a pump ?
Depends on what you're planning to do with it. I prefer .22 because I shoot long range (50 to 100 meters). Pumping is quite effortless, so don't worry about that. And you always have the option to shoot of a bottle.

Wasn't hard, just follow the schematics (Google 'fx independence exploded view for images or PDF files). Just be careful when working on parts that are under pressure. Be sure you empty your rifle, but never ever shoot when there's no air in the reservoir. Just shoot until you're at 30 to 20 bar or so, and slowly unscrew the brass bleed valve on the bottom of the action. The power depends on the hammer spring tension, but mine is set to 48 joules or 35 ft/lbs at full power and 27 joules or 20 ft/lbs at half power.

My .22 Independence has been extremely dependable. It is 3-1/2 years old and has over 34,000 rounds through it. Maintenance to date has been limited to removing a water droplet on the inlet of the small air reservoir, cleaning the barrel every 5,000 rounds or so and cleaning and lubing the trigger assembly every several thousand rounds.
Edit: I forgot to mention, the breech seal o-ring has been replaced every few thousand rounds as well, but that is to be expected as it is a notable wear item.

Real world shot count on power setting #2 (slightly less than 20 ft-lbs) is around 10 to 11 shots and 5 shots on power setting #3 (slightly more than 30 ft-lbs). And accuracy is unbelievable. Even after all of this time and all of those rounds, every time I shoot the rifle I am still in awe over how quiet it is, the overall smoothness and the incredible accuracy.

It is by far my favorite air rifle and I own several high-end PCP's. If I had to sell all of them, the Independence would be the last to go.
