FX Independence, Webley Paradigm ??

The FX Independence is the badgers nagers. It's accurate as hell, quiet, light weight, and I keep on winning 50-meter precision shooting competitions with it. Not to show off, but to prove my point to you. I ended first at the national championship last weekend with my FX. The last few years I've been in the top-3 with this rifle, so if you want freedom from the bottle, accuracy and looks.... don't look any further.

This is a 5 shot group at 50 meters (55 yards), basically one hole. And I shoot that consistently with it. Mine is in .22 by the way and it seems to like the JSB 18 grains the best.

I get similar accuracy out of my .22 Independence. I can't shoot it as well as Jonnes but, it keeps up with my tuned 400 out to 75yds. What you'll gain by losing the bottle, is weight. That's about the only thing I'd want to see changed on the Independence. Well, that and optional open sights. 
For about the same price there's also the Indy bullpup hybrid available from FX. AoA shows it as actually being heavier than the Independence but, it might carry easier in the woods with the shorter design.

There have been some issues in the beginning, but those have been solved. You will need to perform regular maintenance on the pump if you shoot in a dirty environment, but that's just common sense. I take mine apart twice a year to clean the pump and put some grease on the moving parts, but that's about it. I've owned one for over 3 years now and I've had no problems, except the occasional o-ring that needs replacement, just as with any other PCP. 

With regard to the rifle being fragile, well... let me put it like this. It's not a rifle that you can throw around like you can with a powder burner, but let's be honest. Would you do that with any other $1800 rifle? PCP's are just more fragile than brake barrels or powder burners. I've taken mine out to the range 2 times a week, out for plinking sessions each weekend, and it has seen more of the outside world then any other gun I own and it still looks brand spanking new and shoots like a breeze. Just take care of it, and you'll have loads of fun for years to come.

Oh, and if you go for the Independence or Indy, make sure you buy the shrouded version. It's silent, even on the highest power setting!

"Lewis"I have read many stories of their fragility and reliability issues. Are these reports accurate or just overblown? 


I have owned a .22 Independence since May of 2104 and I can say without any question - my experiences regarding the durability and reliability of the rifle have far exceeded my original expectations. At well over 28,000 rounds through the rifle, it continues to amaze me every time I shoot it. With unbelievable accuracy, quietness that I have yet to hear anything lower (I attend a lot of FT competitions) and crazy accurate; which all in combination provides a surreal 
shooting experience that MAKES me want to continue shooting the rifle.

My maintenance on the rifle to date centers mostly on cleaning and lubing the trigger assembly every 5,000 rounds or so; with other maintenance being so minimal as to be on the verge of non-existent.
