FX Impact

Not just the MKII but FX's 22 New releases at IWA.

2 kinds of people in my book.

Those who evaluate what they have and keep it if it does what they wanted in the first place. For example I still use Windows 7 because it does exactly what I want without me having to learn a new OS.

Those who are continually chasing the latest & greatest releases. This path needs no example because it extends to most consumer goods!

Why do I see so many impacts listed for sale?

apologies if this is a redundant post.

Because the Impact MKII is about to be released with many improvements.

Ok. Why would anyone sell their impact just cause the mk2 is coming out. One, they have to sell it cheaper, cause it's used. Then have the buy a new gun at full price. They are actually losing money. Why not just upgrade? That's what I plan to do. Want more power, so I'll be upgrading. Just buy the part I need and install myself.

For some people money isn't a problem. That's not me.

Some people are intimidated or not mechanically inclined to work on their guns.

Usually buying individual factory parts is a very expensive way of replacing/upgrading parts. If you can sell a used Impact for $1600 and buy a new X for $1800, that's a $200 upgrade cost. For some people it might not be worth the hassle and keeping track of spare parts.

Some people have to keep up with the Jones'.

Where can you get a new impact for $1800? I search and all I find is $2000 for the 600mm and $2050 for the 700mm. I guess people who don't want to work on their gun could sell it and buy a new one. The hard part is getting someone to buy it. Usually have to go really low to sell, and you are losing money imo. You could send in to fx and have them upgrade for a fee. I prefer just buying the parts and doing it myself. To op question, I guess people trying to sell their impact cause it wasn't what they thought it would be. Or maybe they wanted to sell to get money to buy a different gun. All I know is I wouldn't sell my impact. Bought it for $2000 and would not sell it for anything lower.

First, where do you see them for sale? I'm not seeing many at all.

World I buy a MK1 used with a MK2 coming out soon? Depends on the discount. For $200, no, for $500 or more, you'd have my attention. I did buy a used Impact for a $500 discount over new. Was an entry point for me. Would I buy used again? Now that I've rebuilt the first gun, if I could pick up another Impact for $1200, SURE I"D BUY ONE!

Thank you for all the great responses.

I was mainly curious if there was some major issue with them that caused people to dump them.

Has anyone done a heads up comparison of mk1 to mk2?

I have the impact x. Nothing wrong with the gun. Get 55 ft lb from a 25 Cal. 78 full power shots before falls off reg. It's like buying any items, when you first got it you are so excited. But after a while you get tired of it and see something new and want that new item. Mk2 isn't out. They say maybe in April or May. So no one can do a comparison between the two yet. Nothing really different about the 2. Just larger valve tube, different gauge that should be more accurate, and larger mag that holds about 10 more shots. Beside that it's the same gun.

There are more differences. The MKII should have the amp reg, a larger valve, larger plenum, heavier hammer, side shot mag and the new gauges. The valve rod will most likely need an upgrade if the valve is much larger and capable of 170 bar reliably.

Upgrading will not be cheap an FX isn't exactly quick in bringing parts to market.

Have there been fundamental issues with the fx?

i spoke to a sales person probably a year ago and I asked what upgrades I should get if I bought an impact. I remember him saying “when you pay 2000 bucks for an air rifle it should be tricked out to the max and not need anything”.

Im leaning toward one for a dedicated slug gun but just making sure people aren’t having major buyers remorse with them.

Because people like me want to buy them! Appears that there are selling too, the one I got had people waiting in line for it didn't last an hour, I've put around 300 pellets through it so far, the gun was pretty much new with factory settings, I shot two five shot groups when I mounted the scope before I touched anything including the trigger, just 25yards but have to start some where, I shot a group after300 pellets and trigger adjustment, the gun is breaking in, trigger for sure, getting better and better, time to move to 50 and 100yards! I'm not new to FX I have four others, my initial impressions, VERY VERY nice quality built gun, VERY powerful, trigger was heavier than I expected, much much better now, the barrel liner was MUCH more difficult to remove than the videos I've seen, it was PRESSED into housing that holds it,

got it out with no damage but took a while, after a brief shooting session after scope mounting, I checked the pellet probe yep it was loose, (I did my homework)! The gun is an X 700mm .25. This gun is VERY fun to shoot, no buyers remorse here!
