Fx Impact Power Upgrades by Vlad (PaniSd)

I believe after some time I would like to say something about my work around Fx Impact gun and modifications I made for getting best of it.

I hope this is not against AGN Forum rules … then I apologize and pls admins delate this topic.

As we all know Fx Impact is quite a unique gun and about that I will not talk much.

My interest was from start about gun modifications in terms of getting more power while make it efficient, shooting with less pressure in higher speeds for specific projectiles.

With my Impact mk1 in .25 I was quite limited in terms of shooting heavier pellets or slugs so need for more speed and power was born. So I started thinking how to improve it and I tried to find any info that will help me making my gun more powerful.

First information’s I have found was here on this forum seeing Ernest, Edosan, Heavy impact and others work regarding Brass inlet mods, Pellet probe mods ext plenums etc.

All of this was interesting for me and also in my area of work …precise mechanics and flow control of fluids and gases … so from that moment my journey begins.

First task was understanding how the gun works and after dismantle it … it was clear in short time.

So, after a couple a days I made my first ext plenum of 22cc volume. I cut valve housing and done brass inlet hole mods and pellet probe half-moon shape mod. After a couple a first shots … It was clear to me what I just done and from that moment my madness for upgrading this gun didn’t stopped.

After 22cc I made 30,40,45,50,63,75,and 100cc external plenums combining them with factory plenums of mk1 and mk2. Throe whole design trial process there was mistakes and errors but I believe that was a leering curve to make good design and learn about volume capacity and its influence on adding power or getting best performance out of it.

Also, all the time I was working with Aluminium 7075 that showed good performance. I was experimenting a lot with cc volume and thinking how to make it safe for usage since my head was close to it. So, I have already worked in past on closed hi pressure containers so it was simple … it has to have rounded edges inside.

It’s a bit rough cut but you can see inside design.

With sharp 90 degree corners, inside pressure forces due material expansion can make a crack in sharp angle so making it round it will spread pressure in more wide area than corner.

I was also lucky that company who test hi pressure bottles made a test for my new design and put it under 450bar pressure for 12h and then scan for micro cracks inside material. Test was good and no micro cracks observed in ext plenum walls.

So after having such result I stick to this design until today and have no doubt about it.

In short time many people wanted my parts and I was never thinking I will start selling those.

It’s just started for me, then for friends then from friend’s friend and so on …. And here I am sending my parts in all corners of the world and on every continent … and the list of countries is bigger and bigger every week. Other parts made involves valve housings, mk1 valve housing with integrated valve seat and Titanium valve seats for basic mk1 VH, valve rods hammer weights.

In one moment I was in position that I wanted to give up … to much orders and I was alone in this since I do all by myself and I need to check every part, test each of it, pack it etc … so I was not prepared for it.

I do apologize to some people experiencing delays of delivery but as I mentioned it was too much work for one man in one day.

Finally all people ware served and most important I spend days and nights on phone and emails chatting with people giving full time support in setting kits up in their guns and tuning. Support for me is very important and I have given my best to assist 100rds of people contacting me.

I’m proud to say that amount of couple of 100rds of kits around the world just 5 issues I had that I solved ASAP providing new parts as fastest as possible. Mainly issue was I believe people done something wrong with it, once by mistake I send rejected bad plenum and also one guy said he didn’t like it and wanting money back but actually in that time Fx power plenum pops up and he didn’t want my upgrade. But at the end all was good and we keep on without any hard feelings. The couple of 100rds more had no issue and 100% positive feedback.

So, let’s go back to modifications and parts …

As I was making my way throe gun modifications, my gun was main testing platform so I needed to make simulator block to assemble parts for testing so I did after some time. Now, all parts go throe testing platform to insure proper function and designed airflow.

Finlay, I wanted to make something even much safer so I turned to make ext plenums out of Titanium.

We all know how strong titan is and how well it can be machined so now my preferred ext plenums are made of Titanium.

Also due less wall thickness it can be smaller in size making it more compact on gun and with lifetime warranty in any terms for 1/8 BSP and M14 thread top.

Im still sticking with external plenum since its function is so good. Im not 100% sure but I believe that ext plenum from below give some special burst of airflow that travels faster throe valve seat.

The journey that I’m still on gives me pleasure of working with things that I love and I believe I will continue doing it for long-time.

And so on with impressions and pictures of installed parts …

All of it leads me to new ideas and I can tell you guys … I have some new that will increase Impacts power even more… much more

Now we have Impacts with FX Power Plenums that are awesome and do good job … but for us who always want more … ext plenums and my modified parts will still be needed in getting more and more from this incredible airgun.

Already many people installed ext plenum on top of power plenum and get amazing results in getting more power with less pressure especially in .25 and .30.

As per experience with it … the bigger calibre the bigger benefit in power and speed with ext plenum so for now I can assume that benefit in upcoming .35 will be the biggest.

As per my tests that I done with .25 and .30 … biggest benefit out of plenum volume is between 70 and 100cc. 100+ is ok but will not gain much more as mentioned and most important … its good to have a stack of spare volume.

So, Im testing now my gun in .30 BEAST MODE with new designed parts … still under testing and this issue with Corona virus has stopped me in further development of it but early testing shows big potential.

At this stage on 115 bar with loose hammer tension and valve on 2.5 lines wheel on 4 … 44grain JSB 961 fps and it is accurate and hits hard ( just opening valve to 4 lines its over 1000fps). I can lower down the pressure to 105bar but I stay there due pellet change to 50 grain that I just open valve to 3.5lines and put more tension on hammer with speeds of 950fps and that’s with Slug Liner not pellet liner. Now I have new idea and need to make new modifications making it even more efficient that will be quite a mod.

 THE BEAST

I’m trying to get good .30 slugs but in my country still its hard to get and I can’t buy them abroad due law restrictions. But somehow I hope will find the way to get those and test in my gun.

Now with pellets in .30 my gun easily breaks sound speed and much more … it’s a quite a bang!

So, hope I done good thing bringing this subject up and I know that here are all master minds in airgun world and that’s why I open this subject willing to revile my work and receiving good and bad reviews and be available for those with my upgrade kits and also for public communication.

Its looks like there is somewhere some guy that makes some parts for impact … and here I’m and open for any comments.

Upcoming new developments will be posted here in future as soon I’m able to overcome issues that we are all facing with Corona virus and unbelievable deaths per day that blocked half of the world. Wish you all stay healthy in this crazy times and stay tuned … PaniSd ( Vlad )
