FX Impact New Magazine Issue

I bought my .22 Impact in 2017 and had the PP mod done in 2020 along with the addition of the hi cap side-shot magazine. Last year I decided to do a thorough barrel cleaning so I pulled the complete assembly and gave it a scrub. When I re-inserted the barrel assembly the only way I could get the magazine in was to loosen the barrel grub screw and slide the barrel out enough to get the magazine to go in. I could not get an accurate measure on how far I moved the barrel out but I would guess .010" to .015" or so but everything worked ok so I left it like it was and went on.

I did a pellet order a few weeks ago and since I have been wanting a 2nd mag I ordered one to make the difference for the free shipping. Here is the problem. When I tried to put the new mag in it will not go. Per the pics the difference in the thickness at the restriction is .024".

So, here are the questions: 1) Is it normal to have to adjust the barrel seating depth to accommodate the mag? 2) Will moving the barrel out a total of .035" to .045" cause problems. When I open it enough to put the new mag in the fit on the old one is very sloppy (I'm afraid to pull the trigger with it that far out). 3) Since the new mag is definitely not out of the same mold could FX Part #20103 possibly be the wrong one for my setup? The old mag has SIDE-SHOT etched on the back and the new one does not.

May be making something out of nothing here but I ran a industrial machine shop for 25 years in my past life and .030" slop to me may as well be 2 feet. I could fix the new one with a dremel but this is a new OEM $65 part and I'll send it back & do without before I do that.

Thanks in advance for any help. I'm hoping FX-USA is listening and will respond so others that may run into this will know how to deal with it.

Long read I know but as the saying goes "Trust the Lord", everyone else bring supporting data.

Pic 1 is old mag .503" Pic 2 is new mag .527"

If you move your barrel it affects where the port on your probe ends up so will likely lower your power.

I have one like that too that too, but it is one of the original side shot units so aluminum, I bought it off of the classifieds.

I found the plastic cover on one was thicker than the other so traded covers. It still fits tight but both are usable now.

Top unit looks like and original aluminum side shot magazine $130 other one looks like the FX plastic replacement $69?

They are not the same units. FX with consent mostly copied the side-shot magazine but made them out of plastic they cost half as much but werq fine. The side-shot magazines are nicely machined aluminum so cost is higher.

So are the side-shot mags still available?

Yes, most places you can buy fx accessories carry the original aluminum side shot magazines.

Yep, 10-4 just looked at Utah Airguns and there it is. (FX Impact High Capacity Magazine (Side-Shot Original) MKI & MKII).

PA should change their description on this mag to MKII rather than sideshot so others don't make this mistake.

Guess I'm sending one back and ordering another. Pa-ching, whats another $61.00 (plus shipping) in this game?

Thanks so much for the help Guys. This is why I like this forum.
