FX Impact mkII Upgrade Questions

Good evening team,

I have settled on my choice of the FX Impact .25 cal in bronze. But I have a few lingering questions about some options. I was told it may be 4-6 weeks before it is in stock.

  1. Should I pay the $50 for the DonnyFL compensator upgrade? or should I stick with the supplied FX unit? Its a one or the other type of deal.
  2. What barrel length would be best? I was leaning towards the supplied 600mm barrel but I wouldn't mind upgrading to the 700mm for only $50.

Later down the road I will probably also get a .35 caliber change kit, and slug barrel. But that will be long down the road once my wife allows me off life support due to the cost shock of this purchase. Please pray for my soul. And thank you all for the helpful advise on my pervious post.

Mine is .25 with 600mm orig S/T barrel. To me its the perfect length. As for moderators they are about the same as far as sound suppression. I have the Tanto on mine but it really didnt change as far as i noticed from the FX cap style moderator.

Just got my FX Impact Mk2 .22 600mm. However I also got a .30 700mm barrel kit and DonnyFL Shogun.

Like, you I couldn't decide so obviously I had to have both. I think for what we pay for this gun, another $400 is a GREAT DEAL to have an additional caliber option and this gun certainly has the power to support it.

I'm used to a pretty long break-barrel, so this gun feels really short to me with the 600mm and stock moderator.

One thing to note: My 600mm with the stock moderator fits in the case. However, the 700mm will only fit in the case when I take the moderator off.

Not a huge deal but slightly annoying.

My decision went like this -- my .22 is for backyard shooting no more than 50 yds, so 600mm is easier to handle and plenty for a .22 in the backyard.

But when you move up to a .30 or .35 you'll probably want to squeeze every bit of power and the 700mm gives you a bump as it is more efficient at applying the air charge to the pellet since the compressed air has a longer ride-time with the pellet. So I'd recommend you size yours according to your primary use. Or get two ;)

EDIT:

PS - This gun with the 700mm AND the DonnyFL Shogun feels like your swinging a fishing pole. It's the same length as my break-barrel but it feels "nose-long" on this gun, less stock to balance it? Unsure. Of course this is all about what you get used to.

I bought my Impact MKII recently and was told to buy the shorter barrel, but the retailer explained I would get the most benefit by getting the 700mm barrel, since it is all set up around that. I went with the 700 barrel and I'm very happy with it. Also when I bought a Crown continuum, came with the shorter barrel mounted, and the 700mm barrel in the case. I figured I have all these PCP Rifles with long barrels, when we tuned in the rifle, we found that I was not getting the right speed for the .25 cal, it was just on the low side, but my best friend Doug agreed when I mentioned the 700mm barrel would bring it right up, he agreed. So the 700 will go on my crown as well. Enjoy it's a great rifle, check into getting the Huma Dual transfer port and pellet probe, the best $48.00 you can spend, plus the bag rider makes shooting from a bench simple to adjust.
