FX impact, Maverick, Crown .177 slug shooting success?

So I am curious if anybody has had success in shooting .177 slugs out of any of the FX airguns ? If so curious on your groupings at 50 and 100 yards, your speeds and what slug ?

I have shot the Impact m3 500mm compact .177 shot slugs not really good enough groups to talk about. I had the impact m1 in 600mm barrel and again not much to really say they worth using because the groups just kind of falls apart.

In the impact m3. I used the following.... jsb knock outs 10.3grn 13.5.. Nielson 12.5, 15, and 20 grn all at various speeds still not alot of luck. I might go back to the beginning and try my experiment all over again. Your thoughts on success ?

This is one of the iterations of my Crown compact attempts. It had the 500mm Superior barrel. I shot some 13g KOs at 25, 50, and 75 yards for shot counts off sand bags. Some potential there, but I didn't explore long range accuracy because it's meant to be a truck/pesting gun. On down in thread, I took 10 shots at 100yards(with some other guns/ammo for comparision) :

I have since moved on to the shorter 320mm Dreamline barrel.

Ghost those groups did you say that there is a superior liner for .177 ? All I see is superior liners for .22 and larger ? Does any barrels sold have a .177 superior liner ? I ordered a 500mm barrel .177 kit for my maverick curious what liner or barrel type that comes stock with it ? The crown has a stx light kit.

Getting kind of confusing what barrels do what lol ?

I tried both weight of the JSB knockouts, in both superior, and smooth twist-x liners. I was not satisfied with the result. From what I can remember I got the best result with a smoothtwist-x liner. But that might be coinsidence, as I have the superior installed in my impact, and a smoothtwist-x in a wildcat mk 2. So it could be a just found a better tune on the wildcat. When I say I was not happy, was that I did not got the same accuracy as I did with my .22 barrel, even at 25m. If FX release a .177 slugliner, I will for sure buy one, and try again.

If I do not remember wrong, the .177 superior liner twist the oposite way, than the smooth twist-x liners. I personally have not found any noticable differrence in accuracy when shooting pellets.

Yes, .177 Superior 500mm liner. It came with the last Crown(.177 with walnut stock)I bought from Ken Hicks at SPAW back in June or July. 

I know what you mean about getting "something different" every time you buy and FX barrel/liner, especially in the kits(had to send a couple back .22 barrel kits back because they had non-Superior liners in them!). A lot of different ports(round hole, oval hole, 2 holes, bridged high flows, etc....) too. Kinda tough to weed thru to get what you expect...

Ghost, so I bought the Crown MK II continoum 380mm and 700mm curious what barrels come with that. The crown says their new light weight stiff barrel. 

Also have a .177 500mm barrel coming in for the Maverick but they do not say what type of barrel it is.

According to FX earlier this year, all FX guns/barrel kits coming from the factory are now shipped with Superior liners in them.

I just checked my(2021) .177 Superior 500mm barrel liner. Mine is a normal right hand twist just like the other calibers.

Left hand vs right hand twist should mainly affect how the projectile reacts to wind, not grouping or accuracy

@jaydog if your going to stay with fx barrels get a cf liner and tension the barrel with the shroud. You’ll probably want a tuner also. I’ve put a lot of time and effort into getting 177 slugs to shoot well out of my maverick and the only thing that has showed good groups for a consistent period of time was the lw barrel. Had that out today in mild breeze and the occasional gust and put 9 of 10 shots under a quarter at 90 yards. I was impressed! Oh and this was with 13 gr ko’s from bucket and styx!

same everything on the same day in the same wind. The 6 shots by my thumb is 0.59 inch C2C. The other 3 shots I got the wind call wrong but still just over 1 inch or just over 1 MOA for the entire group of 9 shots. 

absolutely sub MOA without wind but at 100 yards and beyond the wind is a menacing adversary.

@solo, Solo are you saying you had a custom LW made and installed into an FX gun ? I agree that were my next upgrades, Tunner, moderator, Carbon Barrel sleeve and anything else I can think of to make a .177 long distance shooter ?

@qball you have a impact ver 2, 600mm or 500mm .177 barrel ? Shooting any tuners or any carbon sleeves ? Just looking at all the options. Excellent shooting by the way ! You do anything special to your gun ?

Indeed had a custom barrel made and it shoots better than either of the 2 fx barrels I have
