FX Impact left hand cheek piece

I couldn't find a left hand cheek piece for the impact so I modified the ones on my 2 Impacts. Included are pictures of the modification. If you are interested in how it was done read on .

I removed the cheek piece and Took 4 3 mm screws and cut off the head and turned them to a point on the lathe. I then installed them into the frame with the points facing up. then I took the cheek piece and reversed it and set it in place and taped it with a hammer over where the screws were. This left four nice divots so I could drill the cheek piece in the right place with no mistakes.

I drilled the four holes from the bottom and then flipped it over and drilled out the holes with a square bottom cutter for the screw head clearance to the proper depth. Then I installed the cheek piece and scribed a line for the magazine clearance cut to be made. I then scribed a line from the cut forward to the end of it. I then cut the piece out with a hacksaw and squared everything up with a file and sandpaper. The whole project took about an hour to complete.

The second one I used a mill to cut the magazine cut and remove the forward part of the cheek piece it took about a half hour to complete job. It looks nice and works just fine and all I cut up was the cheek piece cheep and easy to replace.

The first thing I did was flip it around and cut out for the magazine but it looked weird with 2 magazine cuts and it covered up the serial number didn't look like it was original. After I cut away the material it looked like it was made that way plus you could now see the serial number.

I have no problem with magazine interfering with my face when shooting. I also have a wildcat MK2 compact that I have put a left hand cheek piece on that I got from a company in England and it works just fine.

I agree FX is missing the boat with the lack of accesories available for their products. There is a great market out there for them to tap.
