FX Impact - 4 caliber swap

"Siscakidd"Anyone know where I can find some base line settings for different calibers? I have a.30 barrel set that came on the gun and purchased a .22 cal barrel for it as well, nothing in the owners manual, hoping I can do it without adjusting the regulator, just using the power wheel and valve adjustment

Siscakid,

I recall something in my manual that was actually taped into the literature. It had different bar setting for different calibers. I will look when I get back home if no one else has answered the question.

"shutik"You can do it with power wheel and valve adjustment, just mark valve adjustment with a piece of tape so you know where exactly to return when swapping back.
My guess would be two turns in on valve adjustment and move power wheel to 1 as a starting point, then measure speed with chrono and adjust further as needed.
Ok ..was kinda thinking that was what I should do turn in the valve and start low on the PW,thanks

I put together a few graphs a while back. I bookmarked this page so I could reference it whenever I need a baseline

There is a link somewhere here on AGN to the official FX troubleshooting guide, if you pm me I can email you a copy or just search here and download.

long story short, there are a few hammer spring and reg pressure guidelines for each caliber.

Assuming that your gun is set as .25 you could just use the power wheel for .22 and .177, making sure that if shooting.177 that you don’t overload the spring on settings adjacent to MAX.

.30 needs you to adjust the set screw on the hammer.

There is a balance to achieve, depending on how fast you want your pellet to fly. For instance my .177 Impact ended up on 108bar for reg and my hammer distance is set to default.25 distance but I don’t exceed setting C. If I hadn’t reduced the reg those 10.34 were all over the place...

I suggest measuring the distance of your hammer adjuster at all settings so that you don’t have to readjust it if swapping calibers. Being mind full to not over stress the valve for that caliber.

IMHO the valve adjuster should only be used to fine tune the absolute vMax. It prevents overtravel of the valve stem. Some recommend to leave it open, the reason is that if you change calibers, let’s say down from .30, then you adjust the reg, you will reduce the back pressure on the valve and when you take a shot you risk slamming the heck out of the valve adjuster as it travels further due to less reg pressure.

Over time that ball on the inside of the set screw goes south. I do change calibers, I always change reg pressure as appropriate and I have my valve set as open as the biggest cal that I shoot needs it to be to get no over speeding shots when doing chrony work, basically on 3.5 lines out.
