FX IMPACT .177

I actually own a impact x in .177. It shoot great. Bought it on black friday, and could not resist:) Only issue for some might be that it may be difficult to tune it for low power in .177 if it is a FAC version. It might require turning the valve adjuster in more than might be healthy for the gun, or go on much higher regpressure than what is required for a .177. When I got mine it was tuned stock with a reg setting at around 90 bar, shooting jsb heavys at 880 fps, just at the knee. The hammer tensioner wheel had so much slack it barely engaged at max setting. So I turned in the hex screw some to see what the max speed was, and it was around 890 fps. Have since adjusted the reg up to 105 bar, and used the valve adjuster just a litle to make less speed variation. Doing that increased both accuracy, and efficiency. Have never counted the shots, but it is several hundreds. I only fill it once before a shooting session, and doeas not have to worry about bringing with me extra air if I leave home. Another benefit of that is that if you fill your gun with a scubatank, you can probably use that tank all the way down to 150 bar before reffiling it. Personally I plan to buy a .25 barrel kit for it, and leave another gun as my main .177 choice. The big volume of air would suit a .25 better.

Edit: impact x, not mk2

Funny how we haven't heard much about the .177 STX barrels, and how they perform, with what pellets at which speed...? I actually bought a .177 ST barrel for my Crown off a member on AGN that he had modified so that it fit on his Crown, along with the probe and magazine. The muzzle is threaded 1/2"x20 so I can just screw on one of my moderators. It shoots the .177 JSB 10.3 Heavies at about 900 FPS and is pretty accurate, nickel sized groups at 50 yards. I bought it to shoot FT, but haven't done so yet. Not much FT in San Diego... ;( I still use the Crown in .22 for 25M BR monthly, and its an absolute laser beam with the JSB Exact 15.9gr. at 945 FPS.

keyman you gotta look at like this if you set the dreamline next to the impact and could afford ether which would you pick if i look at some of the hobbies i have been in in the past 30 years its a drop in the bucket, RC planes, RC cars, Motor cycles, dirt bikes, competition pistol, this is a cheap hobby compared to some others hahahahhah

Hi, livening in the uk with our sub 12 fpe. power limit, .177 is a very popular calibre due to its light weight it has higher speeds (800 FPS)than the equivalent power .22. (600pfs)

the two main disadvantages of .177 are they are susceptible to wind and pushing the speed much over 850fps ( permits required) they are prone to spiralling at longer distance. However in calm conditions, with the right pellet/ barrel combination tight groups can be had all the way out to 100yards, my best 5 shot 100 yard group were all within a 15mm target shot from my theoben mfr with AA diabolo 8.4grns

I have an fx impact mk2 in .177 on order, it will be interesting to see how the x twist barrel compares to my lw on a uk spec sub 12, if it matches the groupings I will be delighted, if it betters it I will be amazed

Here is an entire 17 shot magazine at 45yards

While this is a 4 shot group, hand loaded again at 45yards, for reference, I placed a .177 pellet into the hole.

Think twice on your Impact idea. They are hugely complex machines. When they work, they work well, when they don't there's a million things that go wrong. Just read the forums on Impact problems.

I have a .30 Impact and really liked it, till it developed a leak. It was always kind of slow, but still was pretty decent. So I contacted Ernest Rowe to get it upgraded. He told me about all the cool things he had and that he was working on a new chamber for it and to wait a couple months. 950fps he promised me. So I did. Sent it in. Got a call from some girl who told me they no longer do any upgrades at all. All I could do was spend $250 to get the leaky POS rebuilt. No tune, no upgrade, no nothing. Really?????

So no more upgrades for the Impacts. What you take out of the box is all you get unless you are ready to hack into it diy.

Needless to say I'm quite disappointed.

I have since bought an Edgun (prior to the whole Impact debacle). That thing shoots circles around the impact. Way more power. I guess that's why FX had to come out with a Mark II.

Whenever FX can be bothered to send my leaky POS impact back I'm dumping it.

Sorry to read about your problems, while it should concern me, in that I have one on order, it doesn’t really.

i have watched hours of YouTube clips on servicing, I have spent almost as much time looking exploded diagrams of the impact and I had already concluded that there are plenty of areas for improvement before I had even placed the order. making new, better, more efficient parts is something I really enjoy, so it will be a challenge to say the least. I can’t say I like the looks of the impact, I am less than enthusiastic about the amount of o rings, but I do like the versatility.

Ask me in a years time I may have changed my mind

I used to want an FX airgun. I also understand that there are lots of people who love theres, but it seems there are more who have issues with them then those who dont. I know that there is alot that goes into FX airguns. I just feel like all they really want to improve on are the numbers in the bank. Im with MonsterMaxx when it comes to Edgun. They know how to make a quality product. There are also other companies that make an airgun worth the the asking price. FX is far from it. I have not shot one but have held plenty and they just dont even feel like a quality airgun. They should have a warring on the box that says "Use of this product could cause damage to the product itself." Also "Fragile as eggs."
