FX Hybrid's through an AA S510 XS Ultimate Sporter ( is there math to figure ? )

Hi guys . . .

I own the above subjected gun ( U.S.A. "FAC" version ) and have some of the FX slugs ordered but they're not due in now till the first week of February. Slowly but surely we've been seeing / reading where others have been testing these slugs through non-fx barrels and the results are, I think, generally promising. (?) From what I've been able to gather these slugs do like (prefer?) a mid-to high 900's fps though for best performance - frankly I don't know if my AA is going to have the grunt to do that. I've had real good luck with it and the JSB 15.89's - it's lethally and consistently accurate with them. As it's really crappy weather out right now I just ran 20 shots out of it over my chronograph just for the heck of it to see what kind of numbers it produces ( down in the basement of the house ).

It averaged around 913fps on the "4th" power setting* with the aforementioned 15.89's
It averaged around 925 on full power, same pellet

  • for those of you who might not know - this gun has variable power via a dial on the side of it
  • interestingly for those of you who may know this gun - it is widely believed to be most consistent and accurate at the "4th" power level, yet the second string I just sent through it was flatter and more consistent . . . something I may have to play with come spring time when the weather gets better.

Back on topic - even on full power, with a light weight pellet by comparison (15.89 vs. 22 that the slugs weigh) - what do you guys think I might be able to expect out of this thing re: fps with the FX slugs? I'm definitely curious to try them out but it's going to be kind of a bummer if it turns out that I can't really make use of them with my current gear.

If your looking for something to try while your waiting on the hybrids....I tested the NSA 17.5 grainers in my S410 the other day and was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy! I didn't run them over the chrony but groups at 40 yards were half inch....my gun shoots the 15.89s at around 925 also on high power!

Little smaller diameter at .2165 and the LW barrel seemed to like them...

Food for thought!

My Cricket slings 18gr pellets at over 900fps, but only manages to do mid 600s with the Hybrids. The Veteran does mid 700s I think. Both are very accurate for hunting at 35 yards, maybe more, with the Veteran edging it out in accuracy.

I just got 3 more boxes from Trenier, will test a bit more. Frankly, unless I see a huge advantage in killing power, I will stick to the Hades in .22.
