FX heavy liner

So are these just for shooting the heavier slugs the regular liner can not handle, or will they also shoot lighter stuff just fine ?

They shoot lighter stuff just fine for most people. They do spin the pellets and lighter slugs significantly faster so you might get a bit more flier with bad pellets and get affected by the wind slightly more but I don't think most people outside of bench rest folks can tell. My 22 heavy liner shoot cheap CPHP very well still, I tried it for sh!ts and grins and was pleasantly surprised even at 1100 fps! actually I even shot them at super sonic speed at the range for the 22lr crack and they aren't bad still, shocking! :ROFLMAO:

Internet disclaimer: YMMV!

I am just thinking slugs here, it is the only thing i feed my Maverick, got the Vulcan 3 for pellets, though this far it have barely shot those, due to my infection with sluggomania.

I normally shoot 13 grain slugs, but it would be annoying if i got a heavy liner and it only shot 16 and 20 grain slugs well, CUZ then i would have to keep with the superior liner and then just on rare occasions swap in the heavy liner to shoot heavy slugs ( 16 and 20 grain )
CUZ i am not planning on shooting very much 16 and 20 grain, i just very much like to be able to do that if needed, so far 13 grain slugs are very good to me on the distances i shoot.
Of course should a heavy liner bring a little more accuracy, i will take that too.
I was / am expecting to be able to shoot 13 - 16 and 20 grain slugs with the heavy liner, and then just on extremely rare occasions swap in the regular superior liner to shoot pellets with it.
Though TBH i think the 700 mm superior liner will just sit in the corner of my living room and collect dust, ill just grab the Vulcan 3 if i feel the need to shoot pellets, and even here i thing that pellets might be something i stop shooting as my collection of those run out.

Or i have my .22 Cyclone which for sure will not shoot anything but pellets with its old school Smooth twist barrel, i for sure are not going to get some .22 slugs to try in the Cyclone, that will only happen if someone give me some i can try for free.
BUT i think the old ST barrel are no good with slugs.
Pellets ( 15 + 18 gr JSB Heavy ) though it shoot very well indeed.

Too many variables you need to learn with FX liners. Slower or faster twist rate and more or less choke. There is a plenty of combinations. All depend what you wanna do. Hobby plinking? That is easy, just pick one and go from there. If you planning practice and training for rings shooting, that is easy too, pick one and go from there. Pretty much the sky is a limit and what works for me may not work for you.
Money pit? Ooooh yes.

For slugs there will not be accuracy difference on lighter slugs besides the heavy liners will have a bit more spin drift especially 100 yards and farther. The tune is more important than the liners.

Thats good to know, will shoot off another order to Krale then.

This will be the last thing i buy for my Maverick, and unless FX pull a dragon out of their sleeve with new models, my next airgun will be something else.
But i dont think so, FX seem pretty stuck in a groove lately.

Still have more FX ( 2 ) than any other brand ( AGT ) so will have to level that out, and besides when there are many tables, why only eat from one of them.

Hi All.
I just installed and tested the new 600 mm Superior Heavy .177 liner in my FX Crown last weekend.
Clear improvement - Liner has less choke - the speed even went up with slugs at the same settings.
Now I get very good results with JSB Knockouts 13.43, Zan 16. and even H&N 15 gr HP slugs shoots good.
The new liner can also shoot slugs faster.
I get Redwolf accuracy with Knockouts 13.43 @ 990 fps, and Zan at 960 fps. H&N 930 fps.
So FX improved the .177 too - though havent tested pellets yet.
! Twist rate is 18 on both the Superior and Superior heavy.
