FX harmonics

On the FX Impact I noticed that Ernest adds (2) set screws on both sides of the front block, just below the center point, and very lightly snugs them up to further reduce POI shifts. Curious to know if anyone else has tried this mod yet? As I understand it, he uses set screws with nylon tips.

You can always beef things up. I run FX liners in my custom Taipan Veteran. Eliminated harmonics with double carbon fiber tubing in epoxy around my 22 cal liners, upgraded the sleeves with CrMoly, and built a custom shroud tensioning assembly. Had to do this to support my goals for precision with 40gr BT slugs, but it was definitely worth the efforts.

...Ernest adds (2) set screws on both sides of the front block...

I like him, he is not afraid to try things. Ernest have lot of pictures and videos in "early phase" more for entertainment vs a real improvements on a score card.

Call that R&D. Of course more fun if you have plenty of spares in your drawers.

It would make more sense to me if both the front and rear block have these setscrews on both side (4 in total). But that would lead to an other -> user problem 😏

Or just replace the orings in all the blocks to NBR90?

And, if you wish you can replace the 3 on the liner as well to NBR90.

If you have a specialized, perhaps esoteric goal, you can spend a lot of money and build or modify a rifle to suit your needs. And if that's your hobby, great. If your needs are a bit more pedestrian, there are a lot of excellent production rifles out there. To the topic of FX, it is a marketing powerhouse, and builds some decent rifles, not great rifles, perhaps not even very good rifles, but rifles that appeal to a large number of people. And if they don't build what you want this week, they might next week. Seems to me, everything the company has offered since the Royale platform, involves features that present as many problems as they solve. Just my opinion, an old guy who likes things simple, robust and reliable.

another example of a experienced modifier👍

Some times it’s the shooting abilities and take the time to tune the gun. Also the environment changes adding more frustrating moments, I generally shoot 50-60 round groups to let me know what the environment demands. Keep in mind if I shot perfect groups all the time I would be very bored and not honest. I enjoy seeing nice 3-5 round groups but they mean very little to me. Hope the best of luck of any others tuning a gun but if we are still on the same subject tuning an fxlmpact, if I can do it so can you. It’s time consuming and aggravating but when you get there it’s worth the effort.
