Tuning FX Hammer Weights

I was unable to find a posting on actual weight in grams for various FX hammer weights so I thought I'd post the findings of the weights that I have accumulated over the last few years to help with anyone working on their gun so they don't waste money buying multiples of the same weights while tuning. The factory weights are from a Crown and Dreamline but are also used in the Wildcat and Maverick.

I currently use the Huma 13.1 hammer in my Crown mk2 .25 600mm barrel and I'm having great success with it. With a power spring and the Huma 150 to 190 regulator, 168, the dwell is just quick enough not to waste air but can push my 33 gr. Zen slugs and the 33.95 RD pellets to high 900's .
For instance, with my power wheel setting on 12, the Zan 33gr slugs are fly 960 fps . Moving up in speed to find that super sweet spot for accuracy.
The 33.95 Re Designed are very accurate at 870 stacking them at 57 yards indicated in the picture.
I tried the fx slug kit with its monster hammer, but man oh man, really changed the feeling of the shot cycle and felt like i was destroying my Crown.
Does anyone use those real heavy hammers?

Hi Guys,
Saw the thread and wanted to add my bits to the OP's original thoughts. Below is a table of all the hammer weights I have used either on my Maverick or my Crowns. As important as the weight is to the performance of the rifle, the head size also plays a very big roll. On the crown the 23 detent Power Wheel changes the hammer spring tension by 0.2 mm per click. The internal hammer spring adjust changes the hammer spring tension by 0.5 mm per turn. Going from the 13.16 Huma to the 14.5 Huma adds 1.3 grams of weight, but also increases hammer spring tension by 4 mm or 20 clicks of the Power Wheel.

Now i can not find the GD thing, but i am pretty sure the hammer in my .177 Maverick are smaller than that in the pic..
Not sure if it was CUZ my rifle was build as a sub 12 but sold as a FAC, from the factory with a 90 BAR setting on the regulator on hammer #7 it would shoot a 13.43 gr pellet at 570 FPS.

FX will still throw in any weight that is laying around sometimes.
I am inclined to agree, also use what ever locktite they have around, my Maverick was generally applied with " you might as well have soldered this in place " locktite.

Good point. Do you have the stock power wheel or Mont's steel upgraded wheel?
Hi MEC17670,
I have the 23 position power wheel (FX Part # 19908) on both of my Crowns. They are stock on the more recent Crown MkII's but you can also get them from Bagnal and Kirkwood for 36 pounds sterling plus shipping.
My newest (to me) Crown MkII came from its previous owner with a 380 mm .30 cal setup using the heavy tungsten hammer weight and around a 160 bar reg setting. I currently run it as a .22 380mm barrel with the lighter Huma hammer at 130bar shooting 18.1 grain pellets at 886fps.
Cheers,
Greg

Here's one of Mont's power wheels. 20 points of adjustment. The hammer spring adjuster is stainless which is beneath the red over wheel. Right now it's sitting on 12 . Shooting 33 gr Zan at 960, loads of room to go up or down if necessary.

Nice detailed chart of the hammer weights Greg! I didn't have all that were available. Isn't the FX 26.5 gram supposed to be Tungsten?
