FX FX guns WITHOUT POI Shift Issues

I have a Crown mk2, Dream Tac and a Wildcat and no problems. I did have an Impact M3 that suffered from the valve sticking and the first shots low, but that was it. I had a Impact X (mk2) w/ pp that was flawless.
It's a real thing but my belief is, it is luck of the draw on UL barrel guns and how they fit in the action. The Impacts, that's another story. That long valve is a problem, sooner or later. The Mav/ WC is, to my mind the much better rifle. My WC will hit any reasonable power level that an Imp can. The Imp has more top end but also more problems. The WC is a much better design.

FX could stop the whole mess with barrels by offering the option of solid barrels or at least factory glued carbon fiber sleeved barrels. My 25 DT has a custom one and it is rock solid. The guy who sold it to me said IIRC, that he accidentally used a std liner (not superior) and it is a benchrest quality shooter. So he/we won the barrel lottery for sure.

0.30 caliber tuned to 60 yards by Mr. Buck at Cape Fear Airguns LLC. Scope DOPE has two zeros (elevation settings), one for 20 yards indoors the other at 50 yards outdoors for N50. No POI issues at either distance and no first shot issues.

600mm barrel, Air Valve = 3, Macro = 16, Micro = 3.5, Regulator outputs = 145/115 bar, FPS = don't care, only 5 round edge to edge dispersion group size matters for N50.

0.177 caliber tuned by me to less than 12 ft-lbs for WRABF Lite Air Rifle. Scope DOPE has two elevation settings, one for 20 yards indoors, the other for 25 meters outdoors. Same DOPE for three + years. No POI shift or first shot issues.

600mm barrel, Air Valve = 3.0, Macro = 1.0, Micro = 1.5, Regulator outputs = 120/70 bar, FPS = don't care as long as whatever so called "accurate chrono" used to check FPE indicates </= 12. Again only 5 round dispersion group size matters in WRABF.

By the way, I don't know about today, but only a few years ago Savage Arms straightened all their in-house barrels by eye, because they claimed it was more precise than any other method. I used to build target guns using Savage bbls and they were quite effective to say the least. Maybe things have changed today. I've also bent/straightened Weihrauch barrels and they shot great.

Once I aquire the target POA and feel that the bipod-rifle-cheek weld-left hand- butt to shoulder-trigger finger-cant- are correct, I close my eyes and take three deep breaths, open my eyes and if the cross hairs are no longer on my desired POA, I know that if I torque the rifle back to the desired POA and send the shot ....... follow through will show that the rifle and POI jumped back towards the non torqued non desired POA.

There are days that I constantly hit the same unwanted POA. When testing from a one piece rest afterwards, with no earth to trigger interface input to the rifle, the POA and POI were fine.

I think we need a thread discussing how to positively prove POI shift with the shooter removed from the rifle as much as possible.

I am sure the most people complaining about POI shift had never studied their own shooting posture.
Torquing the grip, trigger control, torquing the cheek weld, the stock pressure, shooting off bipods that sitting too stiff on the bench table, low power scopes won't shoow how much your table top moving .... just to name couple issues to start with. Truck guns I don't even want to talk about.
Also questioning was their initial scope zero right?

You better invest in a front-rear mechanical rest and shoot for couple weeks without touching the gun, resting in "neutral position".
How is the gun now? Do you still see POI shift?
From there start gradually touching the gun, one by one, the stock pressure, the grip pressure, the trigger pressure, don't lean on bench top because maybe be flexing - THIS you won't see with a low power optic..... With my 50x I can see the POA moves a 1.5"-2" out of ring just resting my elbow on table top. With a x12 power no Fway you will see it.
Me personally I hate to touch my cheek weld, have facial hair and just feel how far I am.

My suggestion is to go through these exercise first before complaining. Do you notice any change ?

Troy and bigHUN brought up very valid points. For accomplished shooters, it’s very surprising how consistent you can be throwing shots. To the point that they actually group. It’s because you are a “good shooter” and consistently doing something wrong. Some guns and calibers can really showcase this. Any guy coming from a springer or powder burner can be lead to believe that PCP’s have no recoil. They may not have bruised shoulder or black eye recoil but they are still active enough to wreck your accuracy if you’re picky or shooting far enough.

Having said all of that, I still won’t concede to the fact that guns don’t experience POI issues. They can and do. I’ve fixed them and never changed a thing about my shooting technique. The bottom line is if your dream gun is truly just that sensitive due to your technique and it’s not a mechanical issue, sell it. There are plenty of top tier high powered guns that have no POI topics or people kissing the guns a$$ to shoot well. Buy one of them.
