FX Dreamline with air tube

Based on feedback from members of this forum, I am considering a dreamline classic in 22 as my next PCP. I have heard that there have been changes since the first generation with respect to the valve and possibly a larger plenum. Does anyone know what the changes have been for the dreamline? Specifically I would like to know whether a dreamline with the 500mm barrel will have room to fit a plenum. Or does it seem that the newer models of dreamline classic already has an extended factory plenum, or additional plenum already installed.

Specifically my goal is to be able to shoot FX hybrid slugs 22gr at above 950 FPS. I wonder if the the new dreamline 22 500mm can do it without any mods.

Ken from southernprecisionairweapons has been gracious enough to help me and take a few pictures. You can see that the air tube has what looks like a plenum already installed. Also it shows there is not enough space to add a FX power plenum without interfering with a DonnyFL.

If anyone has pictures or information of their dreamline's air tube and length, plus date of purchase, that would be helpful for me to try and figure this out. Thanks.

Yes, I believe that the Dreamlines now come with a plenum from the factory. And from your picture it appears to be larger than the standard add-on FX power plenum accessory. Here is one of the accessory PP's which was added to my wife's .22 cal Dreamline.

One of the great things about the Dreamline platform is its flexibility to change configurations. To my wife's gun we have also added a 600mm barrel and a barrel band.

You can see that with the 600mm barrel there is now no potential interference issue with a moderator, even after install of the PP. But like I say, this is an older model gun which did not come with the factory installed plenum.

This gun is also tuned to be shooting more for shot count than for power. And as such it is pretty quiet and has no need for additional sound moderation in our back yard. But with a shorter barrel and tuned to the much higher power you are talking about, it may not be so quiet any more.

Ken knows his guns and he would be the first source I would ask about shooting your slugs at 950 fps. Understand though that a simple addition of a 600mm barrel to the Dreamline will likely get you a higher muzzle velocity without changing anything else, and would also likely give you the room to add an additional PP and still use the moderator. It ain't free by any means, but it is relatively inexpensive as far as airgun accessories go. Also, with a 600mm barrel if you choose to go that route, budget for a barrel band because the longer barrel with an added moderator will give you some barrel droop.

I just got the GRS Dreamline . It has the larger PP and the dual port system. When I got the gun I cranked up the reg to 150 bar and adjusted the hammer spring as far as it would still let me cock the gun and I got 901fps with FX Hybrid slugs. At that tune I was shooting Hades pellets at 1036 FPS and JSB Monster RD at 846 FPS. This was with the power wheel on High. I was only getting one magazine out of a full 250 bar fill. You could turn the reg up to 160 bar but I doubt you would get more than 30 FPS gain with the Hybrids. As TMH stated above you might get there with the 600mm barrel but your shot count will suck. I wound up lowering my reg to 110 bar and kept adjusting the hammer spring back until I got really good accuracy out of JSB Hades at 920 FPS. I had a gen 1 Crown continuum and the 380mm barrel shot the Hades best at 890 FPS so this new Supreme liner is a little different. I am now getting two magazines on a full fill. I will try it at 100 bar reg and see if I can get a little more shot count if I can still get the same FPS. I really like this Dreamline . The trigger right out of the box is better than I could ever get my Crown or Maverick adjusted to and the action is so smooth and light. The GRS stock is beautiful. The only down side is the shot count when your used to bottle guns. But I’m good with that. If you want to shoot Hybrids or other slugs at 950 FPS and still have a decent shot count the Dreamline probably isn’t the right gun for you. You could probably put the bottle kit on the Dreamline and cut the stock but you might as well get a Crown with 500mm barrel and you won’t look back.

Thank you for the replies. I think I now know what I need

What is the dual port system in the new dreamlines that you are speaking of?

So it seems for what I want, I will need the 600mm barrel in 22. I guess the best way to do that is to buy a 25 dreamline classic and a 22 600mm conversion kit at an extra cost of $299 plus the 22 magazine. I guess I need to sell the 25 600mm barrel kit and 25 magazine to recoup whatever costs I can.

I bought a .177 Dreamline Tactical last month from Utah Airguns. At the time, I was more interested in barrel and configuration swapping than with what was really under the hood. Frankly, I'm not sure what I have here, but looks to be similar configuration at the airtube. The addition of a plenum would interfere with a moderator as the tube would extend past the end of the 500mm barrel. Here are pics of a recent purchase without the stock in the way.

In my defense, I have never uploaded images here before, so I am not quite sure I did it right...

Edit: It worked!
