FX dreamline lite compact with 500cc bottle?

I have an fx dreamline lite compact with the 170cc cylinder. Anyone have the setup with the 500cc aluminum cylinder? Will it fit with the fatter compact shroud? I looked but couldn’t find actual measurements of the tank.

thanks.

I had a DreamLite Compact, an older model with the fatter shroud. The FX aluminum bottle did not fit - it was close but it did contact and push on the shroud. And it wouldn't seem so, but those aluminum bottles feel really HEAVY on the gun. Throws the balance way off.

The best configuration I could use was with one of the cheap CF bottles which I bought off eBay. I could only go with a 370cc bottle as it had the narrower 5.5cm diameter. Many of the larger CF bottles are 6.0-6.1cm, which is too large.

As @TMH pointed out it will not fit with the fat shroud. It will however fit with the skinny shroud and you can call FX and order the conversion kit. You probably will need a skinny moderator too.

here is a video of the conversion process:

personally I don’t like having a heavy bottle on the DTC and prefer the 170 tube because it just feels right. Another words I did it and would tell you don’t do it.

I would add that it also depends on how you shoot. If off-hand, then balance is more of an issue...

The bigger bottle is not a must for me. Plenty of other stuff to shoot. I saw the aluminum 500cc tanks were going fo $99. At that price I was in. No real desire to swap shrouds. I will enjoy it as is.

I did take it to the club for an ft match yesterday. Got a few laughs from my shooting partner for the day. It is about the most non field target gun possible. But the targets didn’t know the difference.:)
