FX crown tungsten hammer upgrade

I recently purchased a used Crown MK2 and it came with a tungsten hammer (not installed). I would like to try this to shoot some 30 cal slugs. I’m wondering does using this tungsten hammer require a mod to the spring base or a new spring base all together or will it work with the stock spring base as is? Any info or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

what weight is that hammer you have? I also have MK2 30 cal crown and shooting slugs. I upgraded my hammer to 8.5 gram one. 150BAR regulator I get 44 and 47gn slugs going 900fps

The one I have is weighing about 1 oz or 27 grams. Did you have to modify the Spring base to use your heavy hammer?
I’m looking for numbers around what you’re getting.

I had to cut some of that spring base part that is inside of the spring. I did not change spring because I have lighter hammer and that was enough for what I needed, with 27 gram you will probably need heavier spring, but since you can't go above 160 bar on regulator, what is the point of such of heavy hammer? I was able to get up to 950fps with 155BAR and allot of hammer preload but that took away allot of shots, I was able to get only 2 magazines out of the bottle, since I lowered to 150BAR and less hammer and 905FPS, I get 3 mags from 480cc bottle and 4 mags from 580 bottle, enought speed and power for what I need it for

Thank you. Like i said it came with the gun when i bought it. It does seem excessive love you’re saying. I will re-weigh it and see what I get. At least now I know I have to modify the spring base. Any idea how much you cut off?

well, you can always cut some of the hammer weight off to make it lighter, would probably say start with 12 gram, just the additional weight, not entire hammer and weight, correct?
