FX FX Crown regulator problem

Lamar,
Putting on the o-ring that broke off can be a PIA. It is a 2x1 NBR90 o-ring. The NBR 90 means that it is very stiff and hard (relative to the other ones - NBR 70). That is why Jeff and Jack of Sub12Airgunners made the "witches' hat" that B&K sell. In the video I sent they show how to use it.

I am pretty sure the broken o-ring was the source of your problems. I would not try to replace the o-ring in the rifle body unless when you re-gas the rifle you are getting a bunch of air out of the regulator "breather hole" in the right side of the action. If you decide to repace that o-ring I would get a pair of jeweler's glasses with a light (cheap on Amazon) so you can see what you are doing. Then follow the advice in Post #10 and the Sub12Airgunners video. I have replaced these things at least once in all six of the FX rifles I have owned. Tedious, but doable when you can see it.

Cheers,
Greg

Yesterday I contacted Utah Air guns and ordered a new OEM regulator with the newer brass piston. The cost was only $46.44. Don't know if the O ring in the body is included. If not, I'll just go with what's included with the regulator. I think all the regulator O rings will come installed. Looking at that witches hat photo, I think I could easily make one from the removable tip on a cheap mechanical lead pencil I have.

The price is the same as in Spain, the regulator seals come all installed, in an attached support (a screw) you get the Bella-Ville washers, it also comes with a bag with some lubricant, it also contains the O-ring that is installed in the body, that is, the kit is plug and play.

Just want to give a final follow up. I had called Utah Air guns and talked to a person in the repair parts dep. Gave him my Crown sn and year purchased. It took a week to receive, and as soon as I saw the Regulator repair kit, I knew it was wrong. The main body was too small. The kit sticker said repair kit for Impact Reg prior to sn 183534. My Crown sn is prior to that number. Called Utah the next day, and they promptly sent out another reg repair kit.
Received it yesterday, and all looked good. The bag said repair kit for Crown and Impact after sn 18354. As already mentioned, my sn is prior to that number, but I installed it, and fit was good. Shot the gun a few times, and all is well.

As your rifle ages, the O rings in the regulators get old and brittle. They will fail especially when you start making significant adjustments. I had two fail on me; an Impact Mk2 and a Crown Mk2. Both more than 6 years old. You have a choice of replacing them with Huma regulators or the cheaper route, replace all the O rings in the factory regulators. I chose the latter.
