Something is not right, What velocity are you shooting at?

Check that the transfer port is set to: HIGH.

I'm getting complete pass-thru on grackles at 50 yards with the Hades blowing a dime-sized hole on exiting.

My specs: 500mm barrel mk2, reg=125, transfer port= HIGH, Power wheel (old style)=C
Ok, thanks for the info. I have it shooting the 18 gr FX pellets at 850 fps it's 500mm barrel the most I can get out of it is 850 . The transfer port is on high , the regulator is on 115 and the hammer spring is on 23 ( high). If I raise the regulator the velocity drops. Can't I take the stock off and adjust the internal hammer spring to get more velocity? Looks like I should be able to utilize a higher regulator pressure to make it shoot harder.

Hi,
There is still more adjustments you can make. You can set the Internal Hammer Spring adjuster just like on an Impact MK II. You need to take the stock off in order to do it and you need a 1.5mm hex key. I would suggest going on You Tube and searching for "Sub 12 Airgunners" . This a father and son team in the UK who do great work on airguns and make great videos. They are doing everything for Sub 12 FPE as that is the Law in the UK. But what he shows you how to do can be applied to a US rifle (what the UK guys call an FAC - Fire Arms Certificate- rifle meaning more than 12 FPE). He has a bunch of videos on the Crowns, including a complete disassembly, polishing, and reassembly. The link below is to his video on tuning the Crown. He is looking for sub 12 FPE, but the process works for everything. I used it for my sub 20 FPE Hunter Field Targer Crown in .177.
Cheers,
Greg

I'm shooting at 905 fps with 15.89 grain pellets.

If you are losing velocity when your increasing the reg pressure you will need to increase the internal hammer spring preload.

A couple of cautions if you are taking the stock off. There are two springs and two bearings under the power wheel, watch out for those. AND, the friction for the safety is provided by a tiny o-ring under the screw, be very gentle when tightening that screw , that o-ring is fragile and easy to crush.

On a side bar, dirt or too much grease on the hammer and spring can dampen the strike. And that can limit velocities as well.

I have a 500mm on my Crown mk2. I send 18’s at 960fps and MRD’s top out in the 920’s. I have a pin probe and Huma spring, reg @150 bar.
My internal HS adjustment is maxed, and I need to back it down a bit, as I’m maxing out on PW #15 of 24.
Scotty, I would like mine to do that. How do I go about doing the same to mine?

Take the stock off and increase the internal hammer spring rate. You'll need to chronograph is as you go, but the IHS rate needs to match the regulator pressure. 150 reg is pretty close to max power. I have a 500mm 22cal MKII Crown as well and it is shooting JSB MRD's in the 920's as well. So Scotty is correct you don't have to max out the IHS, but you do have to come pretty close.

Ok I'm going to give it a try . Thanks for the help guys.

As long as you keep the screw from breaking the arc of the cam lobe cut-out, though I would do a bit less next time.
So I have a question, if I want max power I can get from the gun why not just got to 150 bar on regulator and max out the hammer spring and then turn the hammer spring to the lowest setting that still gives the max velocity and use it at that setting?

Ok thank you.
Ok done deal got it set. It will shoot the FX 18 gr 970 on max( 23) but I turned down to 915 on 14 to not go through so much air and to quiet it down a little . I'm not sure if it's quite as accurate but the wind is gusting 40 and I'm shooting out of my shop. It's not bad even at that but it's not one hole like it was at 30 yards. I will check it if the weather ever acts right. The reg is set at 150 the power wheel is on high. I'm going to order some 25 gr jsb pellets and some FX hybrid slugs.

Starting to understand these guns , after adjusting the internal hammer spring and getting big velocities from 150 bar I noticed it was eating air. I wound up bringing it all the way down to 120 bar and hammer spring on 13 down from a max of 23. It gave me close to same velocities with the FX 18 gr pellets of 910 and a lot more shots per fill. Can't wait to tweak on the 25 grainers. I hope they shoot and hit hard.

So, coming from the PB world, how are you liking PCPs?

A thought that I hold close for airguns... accuracy and just enough power (up to 80ish %) is better all around than max power. If I need to push the airgun to it's maximum then I would consider getting a larger caliber.

Cheers!

Well it's been really fun so far I was completely lost and still don't know that much but you guys have helped me a lot. They shoot harder than you think they are shooting . The wind is a larger learning curve than I'm use to but when it comes to accuracy they are amazing. I'm going to spend way to money lol!

Ok I tested the jsb 25 gr and they shot 860 fps is all I could get out of them in the FX crown 22 500 mm . They shoot pretty good but with the reg set to max and 145 bar was the max tha same setting shot the predator 16 gr to 1020 fps and inside 50 they were ok as well but leaving the settings up high I went back and shot the original jsb 18 gr I started with and they shot a ragged 1/2" inch 18 shot group at 50 yards that were clocking 970 fps and I could get 80 shots before my tank fell below 145 bar where my reg was set. I'm thinking it's going to be pretty hard to beat the 18

I just bought a crown mark 2 in 22 cal. It won't kill a starling at 35 yards. I'm using fx 18 gr pellets. I need a hard hitting tune and FX said they don't provide tunes. I don't understand why they don't provide the bare minimum. It's my first PCP and maybe I expected to much.
Something's not right there. Stock, mine was great, sending the 18gr downrange at 900+ FPS with a 135 Bar reg.
There are several things you can do to "up" the power, but the EASIEST is to flip the barrel 180 from the pellet port to the slug port, it's an free 50+FPS increase.
Do you have a crony? What speeds are the 18s coming out of your barrel?
You need to give a bit more info before anyone can suggest anything substantial...Reg pressure, Port setting, HS wheel setting, etc.

Yuh, HS needs to come down a bit. I'm stock, but at 150 bar, i'm sending the 18s over 1000 with the 380 barrel, slug barrel port, selector on high and PW on 23. I don't have 24 any more because I wound the internal HS out a tad too much and the tip of the camber on the PW got clipped off....oops.
