Looking for a long distance, hard hitting air rifle for pesting . Birds mainly. Pellets instead of slugs. Which rifle would be better, FX Crown MKII or the FX Wildcat MKIII?
Go with the one you can afford and comfortable shooting (classic vs bullpup). They are equally accurate and hard hitting for most birds outside of Emus and ostrich.
I have a Crown and a M3 when it comes to 150 yard shots (which is not something I've had a chance to do a lot) I have gone with my m3. I have had an mk 2 in the past but I highly prefer the m3.
If you want a bottle gun that is as simple as the Wildcat MKIII with the power of the Impact, consider the Maverick.
Some of my friends aren’t comfortable with a bullpup and shoot a rifle much better, especially offhand.
i had a wildcat mk2 .30, and it was very accurate taking crows out to 75-80yrds
i have 2- mk2 crowns now in .22, one with the 380mm barrel for stalk hunting and the other with the 600mm barrel i have setup for long range birds.
the crown is a very comfortable gun to shoot free hand or from the tripod.
my son has the maverick in .25, its a shooter for sure !! very nice gun.
here are my 2 crowns.....
