FX Crown MK II testing 9 different pellets

Hello everyone,

Got my new FX Crown MK II .177 cal in the other day and mounted the Hawke scope. Made enough shots to zero in the scope using JSB Exact Monster 13.43gr pellets. This morning I set up a new target out at 25-yards and shot 10-rounds each of 9 different pellets and very pleased with the results. The rifle shot 7 out of the 9 pellets pretty good but did not like #1 and #4. Shot 10 pellets almost in the same hole with #5 and #7. I have some Slugs on order and cannot wait to see how well they shoot.

The list of pellets used:
#1 H&N Field Target Trophy 8.64gr
#2 H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme 9.57gr
#3 Crosman Domed Ultra Magnum 10.5gr
#4 Winchester
#5 H&N Baracuda Match 10.65gr
#6 H&N Baracuda 10.65gr
#7 H&N Baracuda Power 10.65gr
#8 JSB Exact Diabolo 8.44
#9 JSB Exact Monster 13.43gr

Tomorrow I will set up the 50-yard target and see how well I can do at that distance with #5 and #7 pellets.

Be safe and have a great day,
ThomasT

What speeds/FPE were you shooting #5 and 7?

Hello Lewis,

I'm sorry I do not have a crony but I used the factory settings which are:

Power Adjuster - High

Spring Tension Adjuster - 23

Regulator pressure - 110

I want to see how the factory settings work before I try any adjustments. I did shoot 6 more Competition-9 targets ( one shot per Circle ) at 25-yards using #7 H&N Baracuda Power and scored a 90 on each one ( see attached photo ). I would get a bulls eye on 8 but "clip" the ninth one :(

Have a great day,

ThomasT

Just curious on why no JSB 10.3, crosman pointed and CPHP? Also you can’t just leave everything at a single power setting and expect best accuracy for that ammo.

FX 177 barrel is one of the most forgiving/least pellet fussy barrels I’ve tried but still needs fine tuning. At 25 yards I’m surprised that any pellet is much bigger than 3-4 pellet width across at 25 yard with minimum tuning. I’ve even got Walmart CPHP 7.9 to shoot sub 1/3 inch groups consistently at 25 unless wind is nuts or well above 5mph. At 30 yards things do open with low BC pellets in the wind but without wind it’s still pellet on pellet even with crosman pellets most of the time. JSB 10.3 and 13.5 grains are no more than 2-3 pellet wide even at 35 yards unless wind kicks up pass 5mph.

also different pellets have different optimum speed, thanks fully with FX it’s super easy to tune but you will need a chrono. Although 110 at reg is pretty good starting point so just try different HS power wheel setting, the lighter pellets will prefer lower power.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or does your walnut stock have an adjusteable cheek riser?

Hello Long_Gun_Dallas,

Yes it does, I have not made any changes to it because if feels good, but I will adjust it later. With the position of my scope it is very comfortable to shoot.

Be safe and have a great day,
