FX FX Crown barrel experiences ??

Have a mk1 old crown. Was thinking of changing calibers and buying an updated kit. UNTIL I saw what the crown super lite system consisted of. Basically a liner stuffed into a transfer port covered by a shroud. Seriously? I guess it must work but quite honestly seems like a joke to me. I’m leaning toward just buying any other fx barrel kit and using my mk1 shroud. What have your experiences been like with the ultra light system ?

I have 6 superlight barrels and 3 of the older liner-in-steel-tube-with-orings barrels between my Dreamlines and Crown.

The superlight barrels shoot every bit as well as the older style. I’m with ya - when you look at the FX barrel system, you shake your head and say “how does it shoot so well”.

The Crown and Dreamline barrels are interchangeable - so you can use Dreamline barrels in your Crown - the Dreamline barrels just have a thinner shroud. My Dreamline and Crown magazines are also interchangeable across the 2 platforms.

So, if you want to try a superlight barrel in your Crown, perhaps you or a friend have a Dreamline superlight barrel that you can try in your Crown.

My experience is that it’s all about the liner and it doesn’t matter if metal tube or superlight.

I have a video in the hunting section shooting starlings at 93 yards with my 600mm crown mk2 .25. I also have a video of hitting a spinner thats under 1" at that same distance getting 4 out of 5 hits. These are not cherry picked shots and edited its 5 fairly quick shots. It was pretty calm that day so I grabbed the crown to see how many hits in a row I could get. The one miss was a slight wind I didnt notice but it is what it is. I have to see if I kept the video. My starling video is still posted in hunting. I have never had an issue with accuracy and I have two crown mk2. They have been setup in every caliber but .20 of course with everything from 320mm .177 liner - 700mm .30 liners.

Picture of the spinner.

Somewhat recognize what you re saying. In fact i ve become a fan of those superlites . Anyone who questions such superlight barrel system without having tried them is no less than speaking prematurely.

Have an MK1 and two MK2 's myself.
Only thing i could add to your comments, the .22 superlite with standard superior liner does an excellent job (moa) with lead up to 25 grains.
For anyone shooting 27 - 30 grains and up with a MKII, a heavy liner in such superlite is the better way to go. Adding 2 support rings to such .22 heavy liner may also be worth some consideration.

Super accurate and no problems at all.

I have a crown Mark 2. I had 3 complete barrel and shroud sets .1 set 22 cal and 2 .25 cal . I have never been happy with any of them due to POI changes . Since I bought the gun all that I did was try to get it to shoot opposed to shoot with a consistently accurate gun . Finally I got so discussed with it that I stopped using it. All 3 barrel would could stack pellets at 35 yards until the POI moved . I compete in BR compititions and it is seldom that it would shoot 25 shot target consistent . I can not take the gun inside to fill and go back out to shoot without having to resight it in. I could never take the gun out and have the first shots be on target . I have wrapped the liners with fibreglass to stiffen and even drilled holes in one of the shrouds and filled it wth spray foam trying to fix it My personal assessment of the FX liner system is that they are total crap . I do like the crown other than the liners so I bought a LW staimless barrel and having it machined by Airgun Revisions He just received it this week and I should get it back in about 3 weeks . I feel for what FX charges for their product ,the consumer should not have to spend time and money to get better accuraccy .

Hi all. Is possible to install a Crown´s barrel STXS (no superlight) in Crown MK II instead Superlight STXS? I have a Crown Continumm MK II...I would like use a "normal" barrel STXS without any spacer and no worries about their movements.
I wouldn’t see why not. I am pretty sure the transfer port/breech part is the same and will go right into the mk2. I ended up selling my crown but that 30 cal mk1 barrel was probably one of the most accurate I’ve owned. Still say that the design isn’t the best though. Having all that barrel sticking out and only a couple inches of it secured into the action of the gun. A fall or drop could bend it. Mine came with a bent barrel when I bought it used. Played hell figuring that out when I couldn’t get it sighted with any scope. Had to buy new components to fix the problem.

The complete lightweight system (shroud, barrel, transfer port) is only tightened by 2 small screws and 1 bigger at the breach. Spacers do move because of air pressure in shroud when shooting. They also move when taking off/putting on the shroud. The whole lightweight setup is a joke from FX that havent been seen again. They moved back to the liner housing tube with the jam nut which is much better.
Some ppl have modified the lightweight setup with a carbon sleeve and 3d printed shroud spacers to fit over the sleeve and a barrel/bottle tensioner - that should be better.
The lightweight system is a laugh.
