Great idea. I, unlike most everyone else, do not have any problem with my Radar. It works every time and I don’t have to fiddle with positioning it,For those who have had problems positioning their radar to work properly, this is such a simple, ingenious way to attach it to the barrel and everybody has it laying around the house! That would make the radar even more handy too! Good thinking!

I love your idea that’s the way I’ve been doing it from the beginning either with a small bungee or a rubber band both worked real well on my impact and like you said I’ve had zero problems with mine I love it especially out in the woods it’s so handy

Is there some kind of spacer between the chronograph and the LDC or is it actually touching the LDC?

I have not tried it yet. I just thought it up at work last night. originally it was going to be velcro all the way across the top but I has this piece of bungee cord lying around so we see later how it works.

Yep … my readings were all over the place using a tripod. Using your method the strings really tightened up. Just shot this string from my Cricket using the 34 grain MK2: 912, 914,912,919,921,912,919,916,916,919,921,916 for average of 916.4 and ES of 9 and went into a half inch at 65 yards. I had been getting spreads of 80 to 90 FPS on this gun before but the accuracy was very good so I knew that the chronograph wasn't doing something right. Thanks for the help, was thinking about sending it back until you posted your idea.

I just shot about 50 rounds and never missed a one. Now I was adjusting reg pressure and spring tension so cant comment on consistency

I received my FX radar a couple of days ago. At first I thought it was wonky but then I realized using it too close to the target was messing it up. You need a good at least 10 feet between you and the target to get a good reading. Using it at 10 and 15 yards has been great.
I was just tuning my Veteran .22 Compact with JSB 18.13 pellets. I tuned in a nice 890 fps setting and through a mag of 10 I only got readings of 888 and 891 (sorted and weighed pellets). I was shooting over a small tripod, but this mounting to the moderator idea with some tape is a great solution.

Don`t mount anything on your barrel, or you will see a poi shift becouse of the hammonics i the barrel.

I can see you point if shooting for accuracy at the same time checking fps but right now i am just trying to adjust the velocity.

Just a Velcro strap works too.

I found that just leaving it loose sort of just hanging there worked fined if your shooting on a bench. That made it easy to just slide it on and off so if you wanted you could use duct tape and fold it on to itself so there was no sticky side till ends. Not as slick looking but everyone has duct tape.

Exactly. I'm not interested in the aesthetics of the mount, just in the functionality and reliability.

I didn't consider the POI shift with a weight on the barrel. But as another replied, I don't target shoot with the chrono - I just use it to test and set the gun - so POI at that time isn't crucial.

Mount it on the bottle so there is no POI shift. Shoot into rubber mulch so the returning signals do not get messed up with a close metal target.

I don't have any bottle guns, but I'm thinking my Veteran and my EdGun have shrouded barrels so I don't think the radar would have any impact on those as it will be sitting on the shroud which is after the inner barrel ends. In general mounting on any airtube should be straightforward.

Radar arrived Friday from PA. Used viperjoe's mounting method. Works perfectly, easy and quick to set up. Saw a .75" poi drop at 25 yards, very consistent. Agrees with the Cadwell precision chronograph.
